Negative side effects of y-pipe?

I have a 2000 max, live in the south (no road salt), and my only other performance mod is a frankencar intake. I am wondering if the loss of 2 precats would cause any emmisions issues... either immediately or in the future (maybe the single cat would "wear out" sooner than if there were the 2 precats). And can the auto handle the power increase (I am a maintenence freak- M1- and do NOT drive like a speed demon *often*). Thanks

Your transmission can surely handle the extra 15hp.

If your area just uses a tailpipe sniffer for the test, then you will probably pass emissions just fine. Just make sure you drive around for at least half an hour before hand to get the main cat nice and hot.
