Keep the Maxima or not?

Ok, I know this is still a ways off for me, but I just want everybody's opinion on this. I'm in the Army and I'm going to be going back to Iraq sometime in the near future. By the time I return my car will be payed off and so will all my other bills, so I'll be debt free. Anyway, I'm wondering if you guys think I should keep my Maxima and turbo it or just go out and trade it in and buy something a lot more mod friendly. Keep in mind that in December of last year I got into an accident and did around $12,000 worth of damage to it(all cosmetic), so who knows how this will affect the value of my car at the time of trade in. So anyways, what should I do, trade or turbo? If you say trade, then for what car. Thanks for you help.

If the question was between keeping it and not turbo-ing, versus keeping it and turbo-ing, I would go with keeping and not turbo-ing. Why? In my opinion, putting a turbo (only one available is SSR's unit which is $6,000+ install) on a car such as a Maxima isn't the wisest financial decision. You aren't turbo-ing an older 4th gen that's not worth more than 10,000 - you are putting a turbo into a car that, not too long ago, had a sticker of ~$27,000+. The point is, if you want to turbo it and keep it, or trade it, I would trade it for something cheaper that you can mod for more gains and a lower price than you can do with a Max.

keep it with 12,000 worth of repairs your cars has gone from 15,000-18,000 range to probably 12,000, most dealers will mess you up once they know about accidents. Why spend more money save it and when you come back then make the decision.

I salute you Take care and Thank you!

Keep the Maxima. If your hands are itching for mods, get a cheap S14 to play around with.

If you are going to be debt-free, how about enjoying your life with the extra money... like eating at nice places, going out on weekends, take vacations etc. You definitely deserve to have a blast after you get back from Iraq. If I were you, I would keep the car and have fun with the extra savings...

I personally would wait 2 years till prices on turbo drops... I am sure there will be competition which will drive the price down...

Anyway, I say keep it and good luck in Iraq, my wife is also in the Army and she's in Iraq too. I have a 2k and 2k3 (both auto) and I'm keeping both.

Keep it. You've got a great car that will reliably give you 200K miles and it'll be paid for. Do you still have your original titanium OEM wheels?

Best of luck to you in Iraq we'll all be hoping for your safe return!!

Hey, thanks a lot for the responses. I'm pretty positive that I'll keep the car, because I really don't want to go back to making payments again. As for going turbo, I'm not sure if I'll do that either. For now I plan on getting the following mods. Warpspeed stage 1/2 SFC's, Hotshot headers, Cattman cat-back exhaust(maybe, just there b-pipe), JWT lightened flywheel, and Technosquares ecu flash. After all that, I'll probably do cams......maybe. Anyway, all that should give me plenty of power and even better handling than now. Again thanks for the responses and I appreciate the compliments on my car. I love you guys......haha.

I really would like to ask if you dont mind... from a person who is actually in the army... How do/did you feel about the Iraq situation.... and has your opinion changed before and after the removal of SaDAM from Iraq?

Peace~
