Resonator removal....

i heard that removing the resonator would result in an exhaust tone similar to that of the 350Z...i was wondering if this was true and if so...would it have the same results with a stock muffler or would it need an aftermarket muffler and also would the process involve just cutting that section out and welding on a straight pipe? if anyone has this done...how much did it cost if any and how does it sound?

I would like to hear some comments on this too. I was thinking of keeping my stock muffler and removing the resonator and getting the crimped sections replaced but I don't want it to be too loud.

i had a custom b pipe put in that did not have a resonator. it was 2.25" and ive got a y pipe that opens the exhaust up even more and i could not notice any difference at all when i first drove around. early in the morning, you can hear a lower tone rumbling outside the car but no difference on the inside. i keep meaning to get a few soundclips and get a friend to post them. maybe i can get something up before the weekend and you decide if you like it or not. i am real sensitive to noises and i can hear no difference inside the cabin. if you are having the crimps cut out then dont pay anymore than 40-50 bucks at a local meineke or midas to have them replace with a straight 2.25 or 2.5 pipe.
