CD stuck in player.

I tried to put a CD into the player today, one with a 'rimmed' edge (first one I'd ever seen, and I didn't think about it until it was too late) and now it's stuck inside there. I must have pushed it too hard.

Any ideas on how to get it out? Pressing the eject button hasn't worked (whirring noise, no apparent motion.

Off to the FSM to see if there's any help there.
It's the standard radio/tape/CD unit, not the bose or anything fancy.

Grab another CD and use it to pry the one inside out. This happened a couple of times to mine with one CD. I just used another CD to assist it up. You can pretty much be rough with it, just not to the point where you bend the CD to break it. Got it out everytime.

I'll try that. I'm not very hopeful, though. The stuck CD has a rim on it that's pretty thick. I never should have tried to play it in the car.

No luck. Tries and tries, but no visible motion.

Local dealer says (over the phone) that they'd swap the unit, send it to mfgr,
who would get CD out and send it back :-(

Funny you have this problem, it happened to me yesterday. I just got my 2001 maxima back from the collision repair place after 2 months, and I played my cd for awhile. I decided to switch cds and it wouldn't come out. So i finally took my key and a piece of the plastic, sandwiched the cd between them and pulled really hard. The cd came out and it works fine now.

2002 Maxima - stock CD unit - same issue -
When I hit EJECT, it makes noises as if it was trying to eject but then gives up.

How do I take the unit apart ... or even just the face so I can have more room to insert flathead screw driver or cd (as mentioned in previous post) in it?

reconnecting the battery usually will reset a deck.. as in eject a cd
but its no more powerful than hitting the eject button.
only thing left to do is stick something in to grab it out or dismantle that sucker
