Manual Fan switch?

has anyone ever tried to re-wire your radiator fans so you can turn them on and off with a switch? do you think this would be a good idea?- to try and keep it cooler while sitting in traffic or at the track.

if you are at a light and the engine gets warm, the fan will come on anyway. and what if you forget to turn it on?
the car knows when it needs to cool itself down so just let it do it.

Check this thread.

I did the same mod for my 4th gen so I can turn it on lo or hi whenever I want.

At the track I turn it on hi as soon as I reach the end of the 1/4 and by the time I reach the end of the return line its really cooled down.

You have a 2k so the pins will probably be different on the ECU. Check the FSM to see what they are, other than that it will be the same.

All you are really doing is providing a ground for the signal of the fan relay.
