The problem with spring/strut discussions...

Deep thoughts......

here's the problem in my view:
The guys with SE models have a stiffer suspension stock, while the GLE/GXE guys have the softer suspension stock.

So when people discuss springs/struts, you need to talk about where you were. A GLE with Illuninas and H-tech may say "it's really stiff and bumpy" but an SE driver with the same combo may think it's a nice smooth ride....

also have to take into consideration that some here are running factory 16's while others are running aftermarket 18's rims.

Would be interesting in future threads to say "only SE owners with stock rims respond" and then see what each of them say about the rides on various springs/struts. Same with GXE/GLE owners. An SE driver's "firm" is a GXE driver's "bumpy" in some cases.

Just some food for thought.

good point. Also, the feeling of springs/struts is so subjective. Rides that ppl find harsh, may seem comfortable to others, without even considering where they are coming from

doesn't the GLE have the softest shock valving?

Plus, the whole strut issue is gone when people replace their struts and springs, and are on aftermarket tyres.

exactly..when I questioned 92SER about his teins he claims they aren't stiff, but when questioned further he'll also say he is used to his coilovers on his sentra SE-R so to him teins are soft (especially on a car double the weight)

to me, the teins are stiff, but I have always had bigger cars without lowering springs and I am running maxspeeds which are CLOSE to stock

There should be a big meet so we can all test out each others' suspensions!

I rode in a 2k2 with Teins and GR2s, rode pretty good. Coilovers don't ride as good as spring combos in my opinion but may handle better and can be adjusted
