Ready to sell the Max. And get the Z.

Well since I drove the 350 last week, I've decided I have to have one. So, as soon as I can sell my beloved Max, I will be crackin numbers with somebody over the Z. Hopefully I can sell her pretty soon so I can hurry up and get into that 350.

Probably the Touring model. It's gonna come down to what deal I can score more than anything. The one thats up for grabs right now is a Liquid Chrome Touring model with black leather and the tipronic auto tranny. 6k miles. I want the Brickyard color or Silverstone which is more of a gunmetal color but like I said, if I can get a better deal on a light silver or white one I'll probably save some $$$ and get it. All I have to do is sell my whip now!!

Cool I have both you'll enjoy it but make sure all of the TSB are taken care of and I hope you know about the tire wear/toe issue! Each has its advantages we love both of our cars, good luck!

Probably the Touring model. Its gonna come down to the best deal though honestly. Got my eye on an '03 Liquid Chrome Touring with black leather and the tiptronic auto tranny right now, but whether it will still be availble until I sell my Max is questionable. I need to sell my Maxima soon!

I am doing the same thing. I took all my mods off my Maxima and fixed her up this weekend. She will be up for sale tomorrow on autotrader and when sold, I will buy a 350Z.

Congrats, have you test driven the g35c yet though? IMHO, i would sell the max and save for like a month so i could get the money to buy the g35 over the z, just my opinion though. But then again i havent driven the z only the g35 so i dont have a fair judgement on both.

I think I would rather have the G35 to tell you the truth. More usable overall and nearly as much of an athlete. Just harder to get a good deal on one right now. I may just take a bigger hit and get one instead of th Z though. All depends on the deal like I mentioned. Hope I can report with good news soon!

For the month of Feb. '04, 350Z sales are down 24.7% from the same time last year. The G35 Coupe sales are up 12.3% from the same time last year. So your chances of getting a good deal on a 350Z are greater than your chances of getting a deal on a G35C.

Personally, I'd save up and go for the G35C.

Peace.

Along those same lines, I'm seeing a load of 350Zs for sale on the retail used car market here in NJ. So , the deals are def out there.

what I dont get is how you ppl are dealing with the whole depreciation issue???

If I were to sell my car tomorrow, I'd have to come up with ~$6k to get outta my finance note. (owe $26k and prolly would get ~$20k)

I just don't get it

maybe you guys put a **** load down and your notes aren't expensive???

I dont understand?!?!?! why does everyone love the 350Z. the car has a 1989 look to it and has no back seat and i have never seen one at the track that can really run (could be driver error). and i keep up with them fine on the highway. In my opinion save your money and trade that GLE in on a SE 6spd. you save money and keep your back seat. just all around best choice. I guess none of you guys carry anything around with you, i could not drive that thing everyday. would love to have one as a 2nd car but i would go with the G35 for that. well anyways my 2cents

WHY on EARTH would I trade my GLE in for an SE??? I would've bought the SE to begin with! The 350 is hands down better looking than the Max as far as I'm concerned. I will never participate in a track event. I don't race my car at 3 am against Neons. I'm a 26 year old single guy with no wifey or kids and besides groceries I don't really carry anything. My computer and LCD monitor will fit in the "trunk". So right now is the perfect time for me to have a sportscar. I can understand how it could be inappropriate for someone who needs more room but right now I just happen to be able to justify it just for the cool factor.

Hey to every man his own! but dont let us see you putting any aftermarket parts on that 350z now if you dont "participate in track events" or "race neons at 3am" (but d@mn it is alot of fun )

I like the looks of the 350. As far as an all around performer, Id guess it handles and brakes better than the G35. Plus it will get a 26 yr old guy laid more than an infiniti

Quite right, quite right. Yeah I'm not gonna do anything to it if I get one. Maybe upgrade the wheels later or add a spoiler. No performance mods. It's quick enough for me already.

I like the looks of the 350 better than the G35. I like the amenities of the G35 better than the 350. The 350 can be had for a couple grand less than the G35. Unfortunately, none of this matters too much right now as I still have to sell my Maxima before I can talk seriously to any dealers about either one. I would like to get $21 for my Max considering that is roughly the average price going for a similarly equipped 2002 GLE with 21k miles around here. Wish I could sell it tomorrow but we all know how that goes....gonna post it this week for sale and hope I can sell it. That 350 is haunting my dreams!

2 seater though...i like my cars big so. people with maxima's getting a Z have to adjust to alot smaller car. Its worth it though...i like the g35 couples too.

Just a side note, but you may want to consider leasing the Z rather than buying it. People always bash leasing, but you're a classic case of someone that should be leasing. Your car is only 2-3 years old, and you want a new one. If you aren't driving a bunch of miles, do yourself a favor and avoid being upside down on the Z in a couple of years when something else comes out you want.

Not a rant, just an opinion.

The outside look of the Z is very slick. Sharp, fast... your typical sports car. The driving performance is awesome. A great machine to work with.

However, the interior is terrible in my opinion. Has a very very cheap "college" car feel. I could not see myself dropping ~$30k on a car and feel surrounded by that cheap look and feel. For almost the same money one can step up to the G35c which overall is 1.5 times the car the Z is(my opinion anyway ).

And this is leaving out the obvious ride quality and other impracticalities that make the Z nothing but a weekend toy in my eyes.

To each their own, but there are any number of vehicles I'd look at, drive, and compare before I'd drop some change on a new Z.

And I concur, look into leasing if you like to get a new car every few years... really is the way to go if you enjoy having a new car all the time. Otherwise those first couple years of depreciation kill you.

I was the opposite..When they first came out...I was determined that Ihad to have one of these beautiful machines.......But then I drove it......No noticible difference in accel among it the alti and the Max.....Sorry....If I buy another sports car.....It's going to be faster than the sedans the company makes....No matter who is driving it.

Max and 350Z are totally different cars...you can't really compare them.

I would also say to go for a G35c. IMO it looks better, at least it has a little back seat, and you get Infiniti service. I'm sick & tired of Nissan dealers...

I agree to some extent. For me, the Z is better-looking. But I like the practicality of the Infiniti. If I could get the same deal on the G35 I would probably get it. But it looks like its gonna be in the neighborhood of about 2 grand more, even after wheelin and dealin. Why don't you buy my car for $32 and I'll go get the G35. I'll let you know how it rides

You gotta pay to play!

Seriously though, that is a lot to owe. How long have you had the car and how long are you taking to pay it off?

I put down $7k when I got my 02 GLE new. It was the only way to get the payments cozy. I'm a firm believer in droppin a grip on the downpayment so you don't get raped every month for 5 years. Are you gonna rip the band aid off quick, or slow....

Traded my 02 in last Friday for 350 performance. Haven't looked back since. I used to be a G35C fan, but after playing with this car, I have to say, I'm in love. You won't regret it...

Congrats! What color did you get and what options? I thought about trading in but I'm afraid I will get ripped. If you don't mind helpin me out, what kind of trade in value did you get on your Max and what was the difference towards the 350? I'm in the same position you were in last Thursday and really want to get into my own 350. Please buzz me back with some numbers so I can go in with some real world ammo! Again, well done-hope I can manage the same!

My wife wants to get rid of her 350 as of yesterday for a new ivory Pearl 04 TL leaving her Z legacy behind(she says I love that car but just like my 350), I told her do what you want she likes driving my car more nowadays.
