Berk intake... WOW!

I ordered the intake (GD) on Sunday and it arrived at my place Wednesday. So today (Thur) I, along with a couple of friends around, decided to install it. Installation was pretty easy, but took me longer, since I decided to clean the throttle body at the same time and dropped the f...ing straw from the cleaner bottle in there. Had to take a part of TB off to get it. Thank God it didn't go too deep. Anyway, the rest went with no problems, just unscrew old thing, screw in the new one.

Mine was K&N version. And guess what, after I took my friends for a test drive, they were very amazed. THIS THING SOUNDS AWESOME. It pulls harder. Feels like the car has more guts now. Overall: I am VERY pleased with this product. I wish gas would be cheaper, so I could rev it up all the time

Here are some pics of it installed:

P.S. communication with Bryan was very smooth. If you ever dealt with him, you know what I mean.

Nice, I can't wait to get mine on Monday. I have stuff to do all week, but that's not going to stop me from installing it thats for sure. Since you have the 3.0, do you notice any low-mid range torque loss or is the power spread throughout the band?

may take some hot weather/high humidity to really "feel" a loss....

actually, I don't really feel any loss so far, but then again, I've only had for like 15h rs

That looks pretty good
a few questions.
Where do you get this from?
How much?
Where does it suck the air from?
Is there no place where you can get cold fresh air from as in lower or near an opening?
Do you think a heat shield would be a good idea?
Do you think that the aluminum part conducts too much heat and heats the incoming "cold air"? I always thought the plastic didn't get as hot.
Is that K&N the best one for this application?

Sorry about all the questions and they are probably crap or have been answered many times before but I am a newb here so bear with me or bare with me if you so choose.
thanks

Looks good
some quick questions
about your intake
Berk is the name?
How much?
Where does it get the air from?
Is there an opening near by?
Would a heat shield benefit this setup?
Is the K&N the best filter fo this application?

Thanks

Patience, my friend, just a little patience

Berk is the name. Here's the GD on them, so if you want it, you should hurry up:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....5&page=1&pp=30

It gets the air from behind the battery. Also, there's some air coming in from the stock part of the old intake box, which directs it to the new intake. Dunno about a heat shield.

Some say Apexi has higher air flow rate, but K&N was cheaper - sounds and performs good nevertheless!

Good luck!

Looks really good bro. Glad you like the intake. I know I twisted your arm a bit to get it, but told you that you would be happy you did. Have fun.

Just installed the Berk intake w/ Apexi dry filter and WOW! Amazing sound and pull throughout basically entire rpm range. Propably one of the best choices for the 5th gen.

Midpipe has been proven to add a few whp. But the problem is that the VQ35 TB = ~76mm, but the MAF is 70mm. So, we'll see what that coupled with some slight afr tuning and possibly a larger maf housing do.

Speaking of intake mods, Anyone have the video fo the sounds a 5th gen makes with the lip cut off of the stock air filter? Just wondering. I know its a pretty specific request.
