i dont think its that bad...
the longest trip i have taken in my max was from oklahoma city to tulsa(~2 hrs), and it didn't feel all that bad, but maybe because my last car had bricks for seats. my gxe has cloth (obviously), but i have heard that the leather seats in the max's are kinda harder, is that true? maybe thats why it felt wierd. but if you think that the front seats suck, try sitting in the rear, that bench seat stinks!! not comfy at all, i sat in the back ONCE, and i vowed never to do it again.
terrible seats

I've gone 9 hours or around 500 miles non stop, and I go numb a little and the leather seats stick after a while. I think you just have to stop after a while. You know what they say, take a break around every two hours... Might not be necessary, but it fixes the numbness...
Just what I think even though I still don't stop some of the times. Just in case you're wondering where I'm going 500 miles at a time... I drive between Newport News, VA and Rocky Hill, CT once in a while to visit friends and family and perhaps another 200 miles if I decide to go skiing next winter...

i have taken several long trips, both in my former max, a 98 and my current max, a 2k se. my 98 was terrible, no support at all. the one thing that impressed me the most about the 2k was the comfy seats. on several trips to Green Bay, Wisconsin and others to Orlando from my home near philly, i have been comfortable the whole way . now of course you get out and stretch now and then, but when a trip is 18 hours and you get out of the car at your destination and you feel pretty good, i think that is a testament to good seat design. by the way, one time i drove a 2k lexus gs300 to JFK airport to pick someone up one time, and the seats arent as comfortable as the max, so dont feel bad. of all the cars ive driven, i would say that volvo and BMW have the best seats, but honestly the max isnt very far behind.
Ive only taken one long trip from Dallas to Austin in my former 3rd gen 93 SE, and it wasn't bad at all, but me and my buddies just got back from South Padre Island, 12 hrs drive, took an Expedition ( rental) and it was Great!!! Well maybe because I was drinkin, smokin & sleepin (not driving) all the way there and back so the trip didn't seem that long and it was very comfy
Support on long trips
My daily commute runs 90+ miles (on routine days) and sometimes up to 120 (at least once a week). he most comfortable seats I've had were on my 91' Lexus LS-400, but I have had no problem at all in my Maxima (now has 1350 miles in the three weeks since accepting delivery!) and find myself NOT getting fatigued on my commute...no problem with these.
My wife's '98 Buick Regal, though, is another story, and gets less comfortable the longer you ride it.

2K1 GLE, Sterling Mist/frost
stock with everything except traction control,
and Zaino for that beautiful shiny finish

No complaints here
I drive for long periods of times (NY to VA) and I don't have a complaint about the seats not being comfortable. The only complaint that I have is that I sometimes can't seem to adjust the seat properly. I hate it when someone else drives my car and I have to readjust my seat. I sure do wish that Nissan had the seats that you could set the memory. Something that they should really consider.
