Hook it up to a WOT switch vs a manual one, its so harsh at part throttle you are liable to damage someting. You can use a manual switch as well but in conjunction with the WOT one.

Just putting it in my 3rd Max now (95 GXE, 97 SE, 2k2 SE) and its a must have mod but get a trans cooler as well to use with it.

just out of curiosity, this mod just changes the amount of time to shift in an automatic? instead of a smooth shift, it is an abrupt, hard shift?

It actually increases the line pressure to FULL at all times when disconnected.

At part throttle full line pressure produces abrupt hard shifts as you suggest.

At WOT the shift is slower because of the much higher HP being produced.

what about installing a resistor with less resistance so the ses light will stay off and the shift would be firm and not hard???anyone look into this?

Yes, even tried a variable.

It seems to have a definite cut off point and as soon as that resistance is reached it switches to full line pressure.

I played quite a long while at this because it made sense to me too.

don't do it except for racing conditions and WOT or else your tranny will fall off your car sooner or later. i recommend the valve body recalibration if you want firmer shifts for a daily driver - as long as you don't get the race setup, it's even better for the tranny to get rid of the lag.
