Idea for in car tuning on illuminas

I am thinking of making a kit that can attach to the strut mounts and adjust the illuminas from in side the car. it would have some sort of display (nothing fancy, trying to keep the cost down) that would give you the number of which position the strut dial was at. I would use stepper motors and probably a microcontroller. i need pictures of the top of the struts while they are mounted. (i.e. under the hood)

Sounds like you want the Tein EDFC. Maybe look into picking up one of those and modifying it to work with Illuminas?

why not. It could not possibly be that hard. i have really been thinking about it. I would test it out on my car. It is not like i am actually going to ask anyone to front money. Plus i dont remember asking anyones opinion if this would work or not. i know i can make it. It is just a matter of clearance and how many degrees each click is.

hey guys, what i really really need to know is how many degrees is each turn for each setting. i.e. How far do you turn the little screw to go from setting one to setting two

An interesting idea - And I agree, this could be done. However, without the struts installed in your ride for testing? That's going to be quite a challenge. I could take a few shots of my adjustment with a ruler over it, but I'm unclear why you wouldn't install these on your ride first...

It's divided into 5 steps, all totalling 360 degrees, so 72 degrees per turn.

I just finished installing these today
The rears are pretty concealed, and they have a little plastic thing that goes on top (has the numbers on it), but you can take the plastic piece off and have the bare selector. It would be even cooler if this device screwed onto the top strut rod

I am going to buy and install the shocks pretty soon. I can order them anytime and get them within a week so i am not worried about that part of it. I just wanted to go and buy the necessary equipment so i can start to do development on the system. I really only need the pictures to start the process and will try to get them done within the next couple of weeks, just dont know how long it will take to program the microcontroller. Hopefully it will not be that hard, just some switches and setting up a pulse to turn on the stepper motor. I will try to get a finished product and then see about selling them to yall. I am just hesitant on the cost of the microcontroller. we will see.
