....like Studman said , there hasn't been any N/A Maxima 5.5 gen , that has able to put down 240WHP. Guys take it from a fellow 300ZX TT enthusiats/tuner. Its going to take more than CAI, ECU, Headers,y-pipe, Exhaust to pull off that 240WHP trick. UDP doesn't give Hp either, it just free's up the ones you have.

I have owned my Max for 8 months and i have been on this board for 8 months. And i have never heard anybody on this board ever talk about installing cams, pistons, shorter valave springs, lighter crank shafts ,etc. Just an occasional upgrade to a lighter flywheel. Guys all those "breathing" mods are going to get you so far. The next step is internal engine mods. I bet if one of you take your Max to this step ,like myself, i bet you will put out 240WHP, and more. check jim wolf technology, they have cams for are cars and are in development in making more internal upgrades as we speak.

Be patient our cars are still very new and tuners are still developing.

I myself will probaly get some head work done this summer on my Max. I will have full details on this project too.

That is what I have wondered, has anyone tried porting and polishing? We would need a shop with a flow bench to test, but I do not know of any. How about a larger throttle body? My brother works with a guy with a CNC machine shop and can make newer larger TB's. I thought of one, but I think it would only benefit a ported and polished head. The intake and exhaust mods we can make allow us to put more air through our engines- to a point. But then we need better flowing heads, without sacrificing idele or low end. does anyone know a shop that can do this for us? Maybe a set of heads from a junk yard would help? how about a lighter set of pistons? I figure by the time I ahve 100K on this puppy it will be rebuild time and can get all that done.

POrting and polishing will help for sure, especially when combined with a larger TB and MAF-S. I don't see why we couldn't use an aftermarket MAF for something like an SVT Mustang Cobra, splice it in (with a larger diameter MAF tube), couple that with the larger TB and ported/polished heads...

That alone could easily be 20 FWHP. Headwork made a HUGE difference on my truck, but since it hasn't been done by anyone on the VQ35, then we just don't know...

All that stuff, plus some rather agressive cams, and you'd be over 240 FWHP easily. Even then, if it didn't make 240 FWHP, then we'd know it's hte damn ECU holding it back...

A UDP s/b good for a couple more WHP but, not crank HP.

Anyway, I would think most of the earlier VQ35DE motors (5.5G Maxima, I35 and Pathfinder) still under powertrain warranty. I know that I'm somewhat dissauded from modifying the internals until my powertrain is about to expire (or at least until I buyout my lease).

If I do go get mod-mad, my first performance upgrade (after my suspension hookup) will be a turbo kit; then I'll be =>240whp.

Basic boltons dont do too much unless, the car is OEM turbo (GST/TSi)OR comes measurably restricted from the factory (i.e.: Ford Mustang V8s).

Hey when i had my 86' Z turbo , that is what we did. We either used a 1989-1992 240sx throttle body because it was odly enough larger than the 300's or we use mustang MAF sensors and that gave us some ponies under the hood. I don't see why we could not use the 350 Z's throttlebody ? Same engine......
