Received my 350Z horns today! My question, though, for those who have these installed on their car....did you remove the front grille to install them? I know the horn is held on with one bolt on each side, but the space seems tight to access to. Also, my factory horn only has one harness going to one horn. Did you guys splice a "Y" connection from the one factory horn wire to both "Z" horns? Or did you run an extra wire from the horn relay? Thanks for your replies!

 

I believe the other connector is ground.

Removing grill will make job lot easier; especially if you have big hands. I got my knuckles scraped from radiator fins.

 

I just got mine a week ago. You have to use the stock brackets for the 350 horns the one that come with the horns dont fit, not less you drill the holes bigger.

 

I didn't remove the grill either, but my hands were all scraped once I finished.
As Slow is pointing out you need to use stock brackets. Oh, and it's not necessary to ground them, but if you do it may help a bit.

Also, when you take the stock ones off your car note which side is high on, and which side is the low one on. They'll have H and L imprinted on the fron next to bunch of numbers.

 

Those horn looks really sweet. Do they sound louder or a low pitch?

Thanks for the replies, but there's still one unanswered question I'm stumped on. There's only one wire (power) coming out of my car to the horn.....since I'm installing two (350Z's), do I splice a "Y" connection on the power connection to power both Z horns? Will this connection affect the power in any way from the horn relay?

 

there is another horn to the left of the engine. that is where the other power wire is located. i extended that wire and put both horns up front behind the grill. i had to ground both horns before they would work as well. However, i installed the Hella Horns.

 

both horns are plug and play-no need to remove grill-u got plenty of space-even for ppl with fat fingers like me

 

This is what I did. I removed the bracket and ground plug from the new horns by removing the little nut (6mm i think). I then removed the 6mm nut from the stock horns, unplugged them and took them out. Then I simply put the new horns into the stock bracket and tightened the 6mm nut. Plug them it and you're good to go.

 

which year 350z horns will i need to replace the stock horns on a 4th gen???and do I need both low and high tone horns???

 

I dunno what the 350Z horns sound like, but I replaced mine with Q45 horns from a junkyard. Sounds much better! You don't really need to remove the grille. It's tight behind the grille, but not impossible.
