02-03 Differences?

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy an 02-03 6-sp Max. I've been trying to figure out what, if anything, was changed between the two model years. I'm still relatively new to the Maxima line (used to own a Contour SVT) and would appreciate someone giving me a quick run-down of the two model years.

Thanks in advance.

DS

BTW - I tried searching the forum but it keeps saying that it is unavailable...

As far as differences between the 02 and 03, there are some small ones that i know of but they only unvolve the way the options are configured, for instance, in 02 the helical limited slip differential was availible all by itself, and in 03 if you want HLSD you were gonna get a sunroof no matter what because they were pacaged together, a way of making more money for nissan, also i think the base price on the SE increased by either 300 dollars or 600 but i cant remeber the exact number anyway, that is all i can think of right now, welcome to the .org

Are you sure about that? I have a 03 with HLSD and no sunroof. It may have been a special order, but I don't think so.

Oh yeah and the 03 had a Sheer Silver option.

Well, it took me a long time to be able to purchase a max, i started looking after the 3.5 came avalible, and i was going to order a 2003, so i configured it on nissanusa.com and i remember specifically that if you selected HLSD it would give you the 1000 dollar sunroof option and if you tried to remove the sunroof it would rmove the HLSD too, this would have been for the latter 2k3 models though, when was yours built?, mine was built in december, i have it figured as one of the last glacier pearl six speeds ever made, it didnt show up in the united states until january 23 2k3, i drive it off the lot two days later.

Actually, since I'm out of the country right now, I don't really live there. My next destination when I get back to the states (early May) will be either Pittsburgh or Philadelphia... So, anyone know if those two cities have the HID theft problem? Obviously I would get the redesigned/new bracket to try to combat the problem, but it would be nice to know if I would be in a danger zone.

Thanks for the help.

apparently the 03's have moved the grease cap on the wheel hubs from the front on the 02's to the back and there is only a bolt on the fronts like the back of the 02's. I don't know why they would do this but it sure has made it a pain in the *** to install my aftermarket wheels.

I'm not real sure on the build date, but it's about a month after the last of the cam position sensor recalls. I think its September 02. Now that I think about it, I also remeber not being able to build one on the Nissan site without the sunroof option... weird. Then again, NissanHawaii has some strange deal where they don't work directly with Nissan USA, so maybe that's where the difference lay. Or maybe my Max was a custom order someone didn't want. Thank God
