Starting Simple [Modding]
Starting Simple [Modding]
So, I'm getting the itch to start changing things on the new MAx already (I just got my plates today for crying out loud).
First order of business; I need to get a real license plate frame and ditch that turd that came form the dealer. I was spying the new Maxima frames.
There seems to be a polished stainless, a black pearl, and a black matte.
I'm leaning towards the polished stainless. I've got the Grey Lustre finish, so that's probably the only one that'll look right on the back.
Now, for the front. Damn Ohio enforces plates on the front. So, should I go polished on the front, or go for the black variant?
Anyone got any pics of their frames?
Next, on to the clear side marker lenses. Whay do they sell the fronts with bulbs, but the rears come without them?
Thanks.

Start modding with cheap ones like FSTB and RSB. And then clear corners and fog light bulbs. Then lower your car and change struts. Wheels and tires are must. Go for bodykit if you still have some change.

First of all, forget about the chrome license plate frame. Go with the pink or blue neon license plate frames. They look way cool at night and get all the ladies. Next, curb feelers? LAME. Go with the Yosemite Sam "Back Off" mud flaps. They look very intimidating and will make people... back off. After the looks department are done, then go for the performance interior. Replace the shift **** with one of those skull ***** that light up with red eyes. Then ditch the steering wheel with the air bag. Who needs those things anyways? Air bags are for shocks man! Not steering wheels. Pick up one of those cool rigid chain steering wheels. Way bad a$$!
(sorry man, I swear I'm usually a lot more serious). Just liked the curb feelers. My dad's old cadilac from the 80's had them.
Alright, sorry about that. About the frames, I think that the chrome or polished would look best if you are going for a classy look. The black pearl if you want to look a bit more aggressive. For the front, IMO, don't go with a frame at all. If you have to have that front plate, make it as least conspicuous as possible. The frame will just accentuate it more and make it stand out.
About the front clears and bulbs. It's a customs issue. The front clears are technically illegal because cars in the states must have orange side reflectors per DOT laws. If no orange reflector is there, the side marker must be lit orange with an orange bulb.
Lets say that your car has it's lights on, and you have clears and an orange bulb in them. That's technically legal at that point. But lets say you shut your lights off and now they are white. Now you are illegal because if another car's headlights reflect off your clear side markers, the reflectance is now white. white side marker=illegal.
Some of the lights that I have imported come with orange bulbs that don't even fit the car intended for. They just throw them in there sometimes so that they get through customs and the customs agents believe that they are compliant with DOT.
The fronts often come with the orange bulbs because they are readily available. Red bulbs are not mass produced like orange bulbs so thus it would be too expensive for the importer or manufacturer to include them. Legally, any side maker light that's located on the rear section of the car must be red.
Okay, now I should be forgiven for being a smart allec.

Bryan
