2003 Maxima SE rusting already.

My 2003 Maxima SE in pearl white is rusting on the inside of the rear passenger door along the bottom near the front part of the door frame. I have no idea what caused this, especially since I have the car sprayed at Krown. Are any of you guys having similiar problems with rusting prematurely. I take very good care of this car & have never had rust happening this fast on any other car I have owned. The friggin car is not even two years old yet.

I can tell you exactly what caused it.....the way the car is designed, road salt/sand kick up from the front wheels and sandblast the sides of teh rocker panels, including the front part of the door. Since you live in Ontario, I'm sure you drove in plenty of road salt this winter.

The salt also thrashed my rocker panels down to the bare metal as well....NEED LONGER SPLASHGUARDS...which I will get before next winter.

btw there is a big thread on this a ways back in time when I first posted it...do a search.

the rust warranty is for perforated sheet metal, which doesn't cover 'surface' rust.

like Nissan would honor it, even if they did have one that covered this rust.

Thanks irish44j, I had already tried to search prior to posting this thread, but the Org has the search feature disabled while it upgrades it's bandwidth.

The front tires are to wide and the splash guards do not help much. I don't know how it is on the GLE/GLX's.

The bottom of the doors have openings for water to drain out of. Make sure they aren't clogged.

I"ve got a 2001 SE and a Ford F-150. The Max has no rust and the Ford has rust on the inside of the rockers. The Max has not been rustproofed and the truck has been Rust Checked since new. That crud is garbage. I also live in Ontario, salted to the max.

That one pic (where the door looks sandblasted) is scary

just as bad in person....check out the other pics on my site, page 7 I think.....

I have used some colored wax to at very least make it less noticeable.

One plus - in my above pics, the only place I saw rust is on the front edge of the door. None of the chips on the rocker panel have rusted, which makes me think that the panels may be stainless steel or some other non-rusting metal.
