Weird smell coming from passenger side wheel area?

Was hoping someone knew what was going on. I came from picking up my girlfriend from Foleys and a weird smell was coming from the rear of the car, nothing like exhaust. I narrowed down the smell and it was coming from the rear passenger side wheel/rim area. There was also a faint continuous humming sound coming from there too. Anyone have this happen to your maxima?

Hmmm.....I noticed a smell coming from my drivers side rear tire a couple weeks ago. It kinda smells like burnt rubber almost but not really, now that you mention burnt grease thats pretty much the best description of the smell I can think of. At first I thought it was my ebrake sticking but the rotor was the same temp as the other 3 to the touch. One other question, would a bad wheel bearing cause a slight vibration at high speeds because I have a slight vibration at 55mph+ but I just figured I needed a balance and the car has been sitting all winter so hmmm.....

Your in-cabin microfilter is behind the glove box, which is in the same area.

AB he said the rear passenger side....you posting to the wrong thread?

Pablo - sounds like a bad bearing...either that or maybe you have a stuck brake pad and it's overheating.....

You may have a slight dent on the rim. Happened to my SE after I hit a really bad bump. The car would vibrate a bit when I reached 60. I took it in and they found two rather small dents on the front-passenger side rim. I had the rim sent out to be fixed and the problem went away.

Well, I had them inspect it. When they lifted the car, the driver rear wheels would spin freely and the passenger rear wheel would lock up, like if it was forced when I drove it and thats where the smell was coming from. Had my rotors turned because they were uneven, both rear calipers replaced, brake fluid flush, and new brake pads. Set me back $240 but hey, what ya gunna do.
