Does anyone know if it's okay not to use the silicon included? I was in a hurry when installing my taillights, so I didnt use any silicon.

No, you should be fine. Just as long the lights are tight up against the frame. Lights look good by the way. What kind of reverse bulbs are those? I like the blue hue it gives off.

Anyways, let me know if you got 'em.

What is all this selling and buying of tail lights. This should be a free mod because many 01' people want 02' tails. WHY NOT JUST TRADE TO BEGIN WTIH. There is someone the last I check in the for sale forum that wanted to trake his black tails for the clear 02' ones.

That silicone stuff should still be on there from the OEM lights. The new stuff isnt necessary, but recommended.

Because many Maxima owners, including me, have only one car and cannot afford downtime because their tail lights are gone.

What tails do you guys like on Glacier White Pearl? I have clears but I don't like the amber. I have a decent offer on the table for red lights but I don't know if thats the route I want to go. Any thoughts?

there's many kinds..i pikced up:
Liquid Nails Brand: "Clear Seal, All-Purpose Sealant"
UPC: 022078345067

i got it from wal-mart, there's like 3-4 to choose from, so you go by your price and drying time i guess

and when applying it, be very liberal, and just apply it directly onto the black OEM sealant for double the waterproofing

Just go to an auto parts store and buy more of the black sealant. Same stuff that's used to seal windshields.

If I recall

You should have gotten some silicone "strips" with the new tails. I would put it on at your earliest chance. All you need is some water to somehow ( @ Mr. Murphys insistance) work its way into you trunk and blammo...moldy smell.

Personally I wouldnt chance it.

Just wait 'til it starts to rain.
I replaced my Passanger side tail light and it leaks very slightly. I even put in some extra Black Silicone that was recommended....not enough i guess.

Yeah, in fact, I do. But your reverse light bulbs is still OEM. Mine is PIAA and has a slight blue hue. Hahahaha, j/k. BTW, I just ordered some chrome bulbs from ebay.

MDEAL and I tried to swap our TAILS last week (my 02's for his black 00's) and ran into a small problem:

The TURN SIGNAL bulbs on HIS '00 were LARGER than mine, AND the Molex connectors were a different pattern than my '02's on the Lamp assembly.
Hence - no fit.
Everything else was a DIRECT match.

WTF???

We were stumped, but had to reassemble for lack of proper fitment.

Has ANYBODY else experienced this when swapping '02s for '00s????

We were stoked to get them changed, now it's back to the drawing board.

help us out guys

Oh Man, you guys were so close! (I'm assuming you tried keeping the harnesses with each vehicle.) Yeah, the turn signal sockets and bulbs are different between the 2. But that's not a problem, really. The white connectors are the same, so just keep the bulbs and the harness with the tail you're removing and it will plug and play in it's new location.

I'd love to swap my clear 03's for some dark 01's. I've got a Merlot SE and think it would look nice with the dark tails. Are you saying the connectors are different for the tails for the respective years? If so what has been done to correct the problem? Thanks.

To do the swap you need to take a 2k2 or 2k3 tail and leave the bulbs and harness attached. The wires terminate with a white connector. Take this entire assembly and install it into, say a 2001 max. The white connector from the 2k2/2k3 tail will plug into the connector in the 2001.

To put dark tails from a 2k1 into a 2k2/2k3, do the same as above. The bulbs and harness need to stay with the tail when you swap them.

I would say the 2k2-2k3 style but the 2k-2k1 SE look good on white. Watch on here.. you can see both styles on white cars. Check out the 2k2 on my 2k below

I have a glacier pearl 2k3 and I've been debating the same thing. I really think I like the black 00-01 ones though...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=259701&page=9

That's KPazzo's car...quite possibly the sweetest white 5th gen I've seen on the org. I like the way the black looks on his.

I might try to buy the Ebay ones though because even though an even trade with a 2k-2k1 org member sounds good, it would probably be hard for me to do since I can't afford any downtime.
