Help me mod my 01 Maxima SE! Modded 00/01 Maxima owners, post your specs and mods.

Alright, if you've got a performance modded 00/01 (excluding turbo and superchargers), tell me what you've got and what your current specs are (i.e. total HP, Torque, 1/4 mile, 0-60, etc.).

I'm planning on adding a few mods to my 01' SE, so I'm trying to see what kind of results I should be expecting, by seeing what results you guys got with your mods. I'm thinking my first round of parts should be:

New MAF
New CAI
New Muffler
New Headers
Cattman Y-Pipe

Anything else? What parts should I start with purchasing first? What brand for each part would you guys recommend most? Also, to accompany the performance enhancements, I want to improve the handling of the Max. Any suggestions there? Please be as clear as possible, since I'm a newb. :P

My Max is an auto, btw.

Ok, so the Injen CAI is a must. I've read some incredibly great things about it. Let's discuss the others now. What MAF and Headers should I get? I'm thinking Stillen headers?

I thought I saw some people said once they replaced their stock, and added a new one they got a slight increase in performance. :\

Why is that POS intake a must ? The filter sits right behind the radiator....?.... ..you need to browse the org for a few days....

I've been browsing the forum for 3 days. And the search feature seems to be down, so I can't do any searches. Why is the Injen CAI a pos? Do you have any other suggestions?

What do you use?

Arnold K, one thing that might answer quite a few of your questions would be to just browse some of the existing threads that are open.
Also, the FAQ area is a great source of information regarding performance upgrades and their benefits.
If you just take some time and read through some of the other threads that have high ratings (stars) those will give you some good information as well.
Welcome to the .org

Arnold.....only true CAI, is Cattman/Place racing......Injen claims to be CAI, but the filter sits behind the radiator.....nothing cold is coming from there......best bang for the buck is Berk intake....do some browsing on Group deals section.....you wont be dissapointed....

The first mod you should do is RSB. It makes your car handle 10x better and doesn't cost very much, and you can install it yourself.

If your looking for a real CAI get either the Cattman or Place Racing (they are the same exact intakes but with different clamps and avail. in diff. colors) You can find clones of them on ebay for 50-60 bucks. Y-pipe, i would say go with budget or warpspeed. price is around 160, much cheaper than cattman. As for a muffler--- if you get a ypipe and an intake with an aftermarket muffler your car will be LOUD. If you dont want to be waking up neighbors late at nite, keep the stock muffler.

Well, since this was bumped. I don't want to lose any low-end performance. Is there any way to prevent that from happening? Or is it pretty much unavoidable?

It's below and to the side of the radiator, almost underneath the battery.

I have the place racing with a warpspeed y and an aftermarket muffler(powertech1011) and I dont get drowning on the freeway. That was my biggest worry. It really is only loud when you want it to be. I can wake the neighbors if i want to or i can just keep the rpms low. I am going to get a b-pipe and we will see what happens. maybe i will just get the OEM b-pipe fixed.

As far as me taking back my 01 SE for an 02 SE, not gonna' do it. I've had this car since late April 2001. I've developed a bond with it. It is my baby.

i have an Injen intake, Warpspeed Y-Pipe, an RSB that still has to go on, and HIDs. i hear the intake more than the y-pipe, and again, its only loud when you really get on it. after hearing all this berk/frankencar talk and listening to sound clips of the frankencar on their website i think i might switch over though.

yet, my car is slower off the line than it was before...might have something to do with the 18"s...

EDIT: anyone know first hand how much better the Berk is than Injen, and is it worth switching over?

Change the exterior and suspension then slowly move to interior and performance mod

Get a body kit, 18~19" Rim, Greddy or HKS exaust.
4 18" Rims + Tire = $2000USD or up
Body kit (No paint and install) = 400~800 USD
Paint + Install = 500 USD~1000 USD
Spring = 200 ~400 USD
Greedy exaust = 450~600 USD
HKS exaust = Don't know

Check my site click me for exterior mods
