Getting rid of my maxima for a.....

Brand new 2004 Honda S2000!!! I just put a deposit on it. I figured it's they way to go, since I'm moving to Hawaii.

What does everyone think my maxima is worth on trade-in and retail?

It's a 2K SE 5 speed with 75,000 miles, fully loaded, mint condition. It also has the mods listed in my signature. Anyone on here interested in buying it or some of the aftermarket parts???

*edit* well my signature isn't showing up, so here's the mods I have...

Stillen Hi Flow intake
Stillen Y-pipe (fed spec)
Unorthodox UDP
Courtesy FSTB
Addco RSB
Pacesetter STS

How much for the UDP? Approx. how many miles on that? (not that it should matter too much)

Very fun car. My wife has a black 2k4 s2k. A bit small but I have a
blast everytime I drive it. Congrats

i've heard that the 2k1 s2k is more fun to drive than the newer ones because of the new changes they've made.... so maybe u can look into that also, and save some bucks at the same time... maybe since u've already put a deposit that's not feasible... .. either way... it's a great car... and good luck ...i've always wanted one.. but a 2seater is just too uncomfortable for me....

I'm getting the S2000 for $30,500 + $490 destination + $250 dealer "car wash" prep so it'll be $31,240 out the door...that's about $2300 below sticker.

I've heard good and bad about the 2K4 vs the previous models too...I definitely like the looks of the 2K4 better. Those new rims are sweet. PriI've driven them both and I think the extra torque is kinda nice...I think the big fun factor change is the lowered redline though....9000 just sounds and feels alot cooler than 8000.

For the UDP I'd want $90 + shipping
For the RSB $70 +shipping

I won't be able to get them off the car for a few weeks though since I'm going on vacation.

the S2K NEEDED more torque, so, it's a nice thing.

plus, the handling characteristics are slightly different. Whether that's good or bad depends on who you talk to.

A lot of people like the snap oversteer of the 1g S2k...some tend to like the more neutral handling of the 1.5g S2K.

I've only raced a 1g S2K and found it's powerband to be... well, boring. it handled great, braked less than great, and was a blast in the end.

You make it sound as if the Maxima was bad. Traitor!

(Should've gotten an SC430 instead. My bro's got one, and it owns. )

yeah tho the new one has more torque.. but it has a lower redline so i've heard that it has less "punch" than the older ones... and the different handling .....so depends on what u like....but damn... great car... hope u enjoy it.....not a bad price either...

Yes, I'm a traitor....I should have said I'm putting my maxima out to stud. I just had to have a convertible for Hawaii, and I don't have $65K to spend for an SC430, never mind the fact that it is ugly...I'm not too crazy about the 350Z convertible and it's $38K? I'm looking for something fun to drive, so for me the S2000 was the obvious choice as I don't think anyone's ever driven one without a smile on their face.

I still think that Honda has the upper hand on Nissan as far as resale value and build quality go too. Especially with the S2000 since it is still hand built 100% in Japan.

Ok here's a new topic of discussion...Why do we abbreivate the years 2001, 2002, 2003, etc. as 2K1, 2K2, 2K3, etc? it's one less keystroke. hmmm. It's probably coming from "year 2000" being abbreviated as Y2K. Creatures of habit we are....

The S2000 is a such a fun car to drive! You can just toss the thing around. They are just so darn small though! The trunk is TINY and the interior is tiny as well. My head comes to the top of the windsheild and I'm staring straight into the visor. Wth the top on, my hair touches the roof of the car.

One thing about the S2000 is that say bye bye to modding you car. Unless you go stand alone EMS or turbo, you can't really touch the engine. Header, intake, and exhaust will give you 5-10HP at best. And that's after spending $2000.

It's worth it. The car is a blast to drive.

BTW: All SC430s are the same, minus the color of the interior. My brother got his SC for a little over $59k before taxes.

I just checked out the new S2K this weekend. I love the new wheels, heads and tails. And the way the fenders wrap up front. With the torque improvement this year, I've no doubt you'll enjoy the new ride.

The SC430 is one of the ugliest cars ever made in my opinion...right up there with the Pontiac A s s-Tek. Where'd they get the wheels, off of the moon rover?

Edmunds.com says it "doesn't inspire anything more than leisurely cruising." That doesn't strike me as being a "blast to drive", Arnold.

Doesnt' sound very fun driving a 3,850 lb. two-door. 300 hp is nice, but hp/weight ratio is almost EXACTLY what the 2k4 maxima hp is.

Not seeing why exactly it's worth $60K+

I'll take a G35 AND an S2000 for that price.

You and I must have a different definition of ugly. The SC is a head turner. People always stare at the car, some even come up to it and ask my brother how fast is it. It's a gorgeous car.

I've driven it numerous times. It picks up well. Handles really well too. And as far as Edmunds.com goes, Car and Driver begs to differ:
Current plans call for the importation of just 12,000 SC430 convertibles during 2001, with supplies leveling off to 10,000 units per year thereafter. So don't just sit idle; grab your checkbook and hit the street.
But we've taken this thread OT, and should stop here.

i got drunk and, on occassion, tapped some pretty nasty women in college. they were "head turners" too. people "stared" at them also. and it wasn't 'cause they were pretty. but at the time, they were fun to drive.

well put 2k5....everyone I know thinks the thing is heinous looking. And the Car&Driver quote says nothing about its performance......

Besides it's a moot point. The thread starter was talking abou tthe S2000, which is a quick, small, tight-suspension convertible that is a true "driving purist's car"...

The Lexus is the 2-ton luxury convertible beast that will be mostly bought by rich middle-aged women. It is not a purist's car. It is a luxury car. The name of the game there is confort and smooth power. The S2000 is just the opposite...it's all about performance and high-revving power.

apples and oranges.

obviously style is subjective...but I think the heads for the SC are turning with people wondering why a $60K car is so ugly.....

BTW my triumph GT6 (when it's actually running) turns a ton of heads. Original list price in 1971: $3,100. and it looks like a sportscar, not a spaceship

How much for the STS and how hard is the install?? My zip is 66502 so please include shipping. Is the RSB still for sale?? Is it all right to buy this used or do the bushings get used up.

Not valid. People display a face of disgust when they see something ugly, not a face of "damn, that's a sweet looking car."

I can safely say that you are the first couple of people I've met who don't like the way the SC looks.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Hahaha. I'd buy TWO 350Zs! One in red and one in blue. I'm just sayin', the SC430 is a sexy car.

Seriously, though. We've killed this thread. I apologize.

Everything I have is still for sale...but like I said I won't be able to get anything off my car for a couple weeks. I'd want $50 for the STS/shipped...I don't know if the bushings get worn out or not...I wouldn't think so, but it's a possibility. The install isn't too bad as long as you can get the car up off the ground high enough....a lift bay is ideal.

Why is everyone bashing the S2000? Innate "Honduh"-bashing? There's no need to tell him what he should have bought.....maybe he values the age & looks more than the slight hardcore performance difference.
Anyways, enjoy the car, great car for Hawaii...you lucky SOB!
