a bad thing and a good thing...
a bad thing and a good thing...
First the bad....
After about 100 miles of driving today, I stopped. When I turned the car back on the "service engine soon" light comes on. WTF? Car still ran fine and I drove another 50 miles home....Owner's manual said something about how the light will come on solid (not blinking) if the gas cap is open. It wasn't. Anyone know any other reasons it would be on?
Now the good.
I was gonna do some engine maintenance anyways today, so I cleaned the throttle body (man alot of black stuff in there) and also put in my "spare" MAF to see if it did anything (it is the "updated" MAF and has a different part number than the OEM one i took out). I am happy to say that the cleaning and MAF change resulted in noticeably better throttle response and the car felt more powerful...may just be my imagination.
But the damn "service engine soon" light is still on...what the hell?

j/k.have no idea what it could be, but i would swing by autozone, and get the computer read. its free.
just over 50K. The light went on at about 50,550 miles. My local dealer said "there are 38 different things that can cause the light to go on".
I drove all over the place today running errands and the car has never run smoother or stronger (thanks to MAF and cleaning as mentioned above).
Any way to just turn off the damn light. it's wicked annoying.
