5spd to 6spd conversion
5spd to 6spd conversion
i have a 2000 5spd and i want to convert it to a 6spd because i can get my hands on a 6spd tranny for real cheap. i was wondering if it directly bolts in and could use the same bell housing. if i anyone could help me that would be helpful
no no, i believe his car is a 5 speed 2k max, and he wants to put in a 6 speed tranny, i guess from a 2k2+ on his car. can it bolt up directly is his question.

Listen, they are both interchangable. Just more involved than simply dropping the tranny and swaping it out for the other
5spd trannys are shift rod/support rod driven
6spd trannys are shift cable driven.
5spd uses a standard flywheel clutch setup.
6spd uses a multipart flywheel clutch setup.
5spd has starter toward the firewall side of the tranny.
6spd has starter toward the radiator side of the tranny
So thinks needs to be adjusted to make it work.
