Code PO171 Bank 1- Anyone know what that really means???

Went to auto zone today because "service engines soon" light was on and they flashed the computer. It read code PO171 Bank 1 -"too lean". Now, i noticed that the car was sputtering at about 4K rpms and it hasnt been running normal. Does anyone know what might be wrong-- o2 sensor, MAF

I also made an appointment w/ Nissan, but they are gonna kill me the $$$

According to the manual it could be:

Intake air leaks
O2 sensor 1 (front)
Injectors
Exhaust gas leaks
Lack of fuel
Mass Air Flow Sensor

Alot of people on the board seem to have had to replace their Mass Air Flow Sensor, but there are several possiblities as shown on the list. Most seem to say when the MAF goes you know it since the car is hardly drivable and wont go above 2000 RPMs. Let us know how you make out.

I had the same code and very similar symptoms.
It was my MAF.
