Does anyone know if i can replace the stock amp with an aftermarket one?

I know this is supose to be in the "audio fourms" and i already made a thread in there, but it is like a ghost town in there. tomorrow is the only day off i have in a while, so it would be much appreciated if some one could help me out quickly as posiable.

so here is what i want to do... i want to disconnect the factory amp, and the the speaker wires that normally go into the factory amp, and run them into my alpine amp. would this work? i hooked up my subs already, but the bass is way overpowering and of my vocals, and it sounds very poor. if i can do this amp swap, i could just take out the factory speakers, install my polks, and i should be fine, and i can still retain my factory head unit. i really hope that will work. does anyone know if i can do this? would i need any other wire hanesses to pull this off? thank you very much guys...

This aint as easy as that. You got a bose setup. Bose sends a higher signal line to the amp than normal headunits do in their low level signal lines. This is almost too much work to retain the stock headunit.

I havent tested it, but if you find amps that can handle 5V inputs on the signal lines you can probably retain the stock headunit. Then rewire the speakers into the aftermarket amp. But that means cutting that large plug going into the Bose Amp.

Also how did you wire the subs as of now? Do you have a speaker-to-line level convertor running off your rear speakers which then goes into your sub amp? If so, why not just turn the potienameters down on that covertor?

Or did you wire the bose sub amp signal lines straight into a low level input into your sub amp? If so, why not just turn the gains down on the amp?

Doesnt seem like a big problem in trying to resolve your overpowering bass setup as you put it.

Thnak you for your post.

i have a rca converter hooked into the speaker wires running into the bose amp in the trunk. it does have gain on it, but i really just want to have my good speakers installed, without having to get rid of my deck. is there anyway i could dim down that high signal comming out of the deck so my amp can handle it? i really hope i can do this... i am not very audio swavy, if if there is any way you could be alittle more discriptive that would be great. i understand basic things, and i know how to hook things up, but line level's, and other things like that just gover my head. lol. thansk again for all your help.

thanks a lot man... it is very much appreciated. although, the likes don't work. i know what the pac converter is, which is good! hopefully i can find it somewhere, and get that installed tomorrow. (it is going to be damn nice outside for a change.) now i just have to figure out how to get my doors out without breaking them, and also if my tweets will fit behind my pillars. i do not think i could get that all done in one day... maybe i should just pay some one to do it, as much as that sucks.
