Is this possible. I want to convert my regular climate control unit (01se) to the one in the GLE. I recently had my bulbs burn out and I gave me a bug Up my A$$. I think i found one on ebay for $100. this is not bad but is it even possible.

 

this gets asked every week and this is always the answer
"yes, for alot of money and time. it isnt just the control unit. you need the sensors (inside and outside temp) and all the wiring for those."

 

so what your saying is it a PITA to install

 

I think you also need the servo units to control the air flow doors as well. They change between recirc and fresh air and also adjust floor/dash/defrost mixing. After spending the last week troubleshooting the temperature wandering that my automatic unit was doing (turned out to be a bad intake sensor), it made me wish for the manual control... the KISS principle... all the gadgetry is great until it has problems.

 

I would just trade for a similar vehicle with that option. By the time you buy all of the parts and put in the time to make the conversion, you'll either be an expert or completely insane.
