Hey

I just got a levoc automatic shift ****. the included instructions are ok, but I was wondering if anyone had done this install before and knew a source for better more detailed instructions. I am particulary concerned about taking the trim off around the shifter.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

If you're not afraid of splicing... undo the shifter, cut the OD wires, splice them to the new wires, and replace the shifter.

no i'm not affriad of splicing but don't i have to take the trim piece off the bottom to intsall the thing. that's what the instructions say. if i can just do the quick and easy route that's cool. i see that you have one too. did you just take the top off the old one, by the 2 screws? once that was off did you just splice the wires and install the new ****? There is a plastic cap piece that is supposed to be put up into the ****...did you do this as well?

Thanks kev

You have enough clearance to not take off the piece. This is one of the few mods I regret not doing myself (afraid of messing up the OD). Yes, take off the 2 screws and pull the stock shifter up. You should have about 1 inch of clearance. Cut the wires and attach the connectors. Do the same for the Levoc and connect the 4 wires together. You don't need to use the plastic cap.

Kev,

Sorry to keep bothering you, but I removed the 2 screws and tried to pull up the old ****. It will not come up far enough. I can't even see the bottom of the old ****. It won't pull up any farther than that. Do I have to twist it or something?

Thanks,

John

Have both screws been completely taken out? If not, one could be hung up in there. Ensure both screws are removed.

Try jiggling it from left to right. It should pop up, sort of. You could get a slight tug up, as well, but not too hard.

You don't have to give a slight tug, you have to apply a constant force upward. don't do anything sudden, but kinda like a tug-o-war and it slowly pulls off. i did this and there we have it, it's off. now the fun part is trying to solder those damn wires at about a 3/4" long. fun, fun, fun. Oh, and yes you do need that plastic piece up in there, or it won't disengage the tranny. what this means to you, is that the key will not turn all the way, and you will got get it out of there. you have to have the tranny fully disengage and that is why that plastic cap is to be inserted inside the new ****'s shaft.

Anyway, its installed now. I will try and have pics but mine looks just like kev's except mine is all chrome. part # lv-454.

Thanks for your support.
