changing an auto to a five speed

I have myself a totaled 2K 5 spd, and a check for $10k, doesn't look as though I can repair my car for that $$, and I don't think i can find a 2k blk SE 5 spd w/ less than 70 k mi for that $$ either, so i figure I will wait until I find a 100K mi plus blk SE for dirt cheap and swing the tranny from my wreck into it, I will most likely do engine and tranny if the miles are really high, Has any one on the org done this yet? How big a PITA is it? any input appreciated.

Seems like more of a PITArse than its worth to go through all that. Rather than try and Frankenstein a car together, why don't you take that 10k as a nice downpayment on any of the model years your heart desires. You won't be spending time at the auto shop and probably only be financing 4-6k which would be like 100-200 bucks a month, depending on your credit.

yes my friend all good ideas but, these are the cards I have been dealt,I am collecting from the guys insurance Co. who ran me off the road, I only got $10K (NYS property liability minimum insurance) for a car appraised @ $14.8K b/c, I am a student living off loans & over extended myself budget wise buying this car and couldn't afford collision, I am still wondering where my rent for June is gonna come from (hopefully not from this $10K). As far as the auto shop is concerned, I never use them, I do all mechanical work myself, I have swung may engines and trannys, but these were older cars/trucks all OBD I , have never done a late model car such as this and am wondering what is involved with doing something on a car as complex as my precious maxima, with all its bells and whistles.

It amazes me how well your taking these blows lol.
But I got an idea. Dont look on auto trader, or at a dealership, try Ebay. I went there and i looked to see if we could find any for under 10k. these are some auctions you might have some luck with.

There is a TON more there too for under 10k. i dont know if its a route you wanna take, but its an idea that might leave you with some $$ in your pocket when all is said and done. Good luck!

Here's a black 2000 SE 5spd 21 miles away from you for $8,988. The listing doesn't state the miles though.

Here's a 2000 Tan SE 5spd also 21 miles away from you. I hope this helps you. Good luck with your decision.
