Another MPG Question
When you fill up a full tank of gas, and drive with a fairly light foot, how many miles to you get from one quarter of a tank, half a tank, so on? Also, on my 2001 SE automatic, my tach sits at 2900-3000rpm at 80mph while cruising on the highway. Is this too high, or is this about normal.

at 80 mph im a bit under 3000 rpm.
My commute is 40 miles one way with 95% highway.
I usually drive in the 80-85mph range on the highway.
Just for fun... on my car, it is 60 miles when fuel gauge points to F
(way pass F after fill up); 120 miles at 1/4 mark;
230 at 1/2 mark; 340 at 3/4 mark. Light usually comes
on at about 380 miles, when there is about 2.5-3 gallons left.
More accurate calculation yields about 25.5-26mpg almost
every time.

I must be in the minority, and very frustrated. I get only about 21 mpg even if I drive like and old lady, and the mileage is even the same at 70-75 mpg on the highway all day long. My high low mileage records are 17.5 - 21.9. I run 93 octane (91 since prices skyrocketed) and that make no difference either. I have an 03' SE with 24,500 miles on it. I even just replaced my air filter and that made no difference.
Any other suggestions?
I get about 90/175/250,280 by tank quarters.

yeah man I dont know what it is....maybe someone can help, i always fill the tank past F and i do a LOT of highway driving but i dont think i've ever got close to 300 miles to a tank. usually at about a half tank it'll read about 100-125 miles. I have an '02 GLE with 57,000 miles and i just changed the air filter at 55,000. any ideas? fuel filter maybe?
I noticed that I get better mileage after I reset my ECU. Then after a few starts the mileage is down to 18 again. Something must be causing my ECU to change - maybe changing the fuel mixture(?). I'm trying to track it down now. A new MAF didn't help much.

I get sh!tty mileage too (NYC). 47000mi, new plugs, berk intake, new MAF, no apprarent problems.
I got a scantool, so ill check all my sensors, but I dont really know what to look for, like, which reading would be abnormal and which would affect the mileage.
