Clutch starting to show wear?
The other morning (around 2AM on US-15) I had my car up to 125MPH for a short period of time... I knew there was more power available, but I decided to slow down. I started in 4th, got up to 120, shifted into 5th, pushed to 125 and then shut it down...
After it slowed to around 80, I noticed the pungent smell of burned clutch (smelled just like burned brakes). Is this a good indicator that my clutch is starting to wear out?
I never smell this under normal driving (rarely exceeding 80MPH, never smelled it while going 90-95 either), but this caught me off guard, until I thought about it and realized why it would do that at really high speeds (clutch is under a lot more pressure when the engine is pushing the drivetrain AND the drivetrain is pushing back with nearly equal force... clutch has to clamp 2 times as much force as low-speed acceleration)
I have noticed lately that I typically need to slip the clutch a little more than I did, say, 6 months ago to get the car up and going. It's not too bad though. I have ~61K miles on it. If the clutch is starting to slip at 100+ MPH, but not at <100, roughly how much life do you think is left on it? (i know that's a hard question, but I'm looking for specific experiences as guidance...)
I'm thinking of saving for an Exedy Stage 1 clutch after this. I hope the clutch will last me another 2-3 months at least... although I do put 3000 miles/month easily on the car.

I thought the clutch wore from poor shifting or feathering or riding the clutch too much. I would think shifting isn't as much of an issue when you're at those high speeds as it is when you're trying to get the car going from a stop or downshifting around a corner.

Where to buy clutch for 2K2 Maxima?
Where do you buy Exedy Stage 1 clutch for 2K2 Maxima?
I have 62K on my car, and the clutch is starting to go, so i'm going to need a new one pretty soon.
What are the differences between ACT and Exedy? Which one is better?
