Whats leather on the interior HELP
First of all I was planning on buying leather cleaner and treatment for my seats. Is Lexol a good product??
Next I was wondering what is leather on the interior. Just the seat part you sit on or the whole seat itself and headrest. Same with the back seats. Its on a 2000 SE with black leather.
Thanks

Lexol is a quality product, many people (such as me) swear by it. While you are picking that up get the cleaner (orange bottle), conditioner (brown) and another product called Vinylex (blue bottle). That product is a fantastic plastic and vinyl cleaner and conditioner. You could substitute Blue Magic (2 bottles) at half the price for the leather cleaner and conditioner (never tried it but it smells indentical), but vinylex is untouchable IMHO.
As for what is leather in your car... basically wherever your body touches when you sit down. If you take it out in the sunlight it should be immediately apparent which parts are leather and which are fake... the vinyl all has the exact same pattern in it. Here is some help below:
The very edges of the front seats (like where you slide in to the car) as well as all the parts that don't touch your body (bottom of seat and sides and back) are vinyl, as are the headrests. In the backseat the entire bench seat part is leather on the bottom, but the only leather on the top part is the headrest surface where your head touches, the very end part that is covered by the retracted seatbelt, and the seatback where the body touches. The armrest is leather on the front panel, and everything else is vinyl.
The shifter (on auto) is vinyl as well as the armrest. The wheel is leather.
Inspect each piece, then do a two step clean and condition with lexol if it is leather. If it is vinyl, hit it with vinylex and it will look great. The top of the backseat (near the subwoofer) will probably suck up a few coats of vinylex as it tends to get very dry from the sun. You can also use vinylex on tires and trim... anything plastic or rubber.
Best of luck, hope this helps.
