Hi, I just bought a 2002 6 speed over the weekend and I have a check engine light on. I am going to take it back to get looked at but was wondering what it could be I checked the gas cap on saturday and it was fine. I reset the ECU twice and the light came on right away. The car feels fine, although it has 75000 miles on it. What are the common problems that this year maxima has? I am going to take it back to the dealer since I have a one month warranty on it.

The dealer will pull the codes given by the MIL. If you want to save some money, you can go to a place like AutoZone and pull the codes yourself for free, then come here and check the sticky's for some solutions. Could be O2 sensors, MAF sensor or a myriad of other things. good luck man, nice car...

yeah, mine came on for about 10 minutes during a drive the other day but went off. If the code is coming up immediately when you reset the ECU, I would definitely get the code pulled at an auto zone or something. Probably just a sensor that is reading bad...
