Oh, man. Just brought the car home from shop. (MAF thread)

Had my car inspected today. I just went to pick it up, and the guy told me everything was perfect with the car. He put in new fuel and cleaned out the MAF. I got all giddy. I always hear people talking about cleaning the MAF and how it makes a noticeable difference in how the car responds.

Damn. Ain't that the truth! The acceleration felt so much more alive. Pick up was so smooth and yet so quick. I never felt the car when it was that responsive. I just came home with the hugest grin on my face. That was awesome. Everybody needs to make sure they clean out their MAFs.

How many miles do you have on your car? I cleaned mine along with the throttle body not too long ago and I didnt notice any difference.

BTW, I have 30k on my car.

I think it's all in your heads. I replaced my MAF, and I felt absolutely no difference, with the exception of curing my low rpm, first gear hesitation. Clean MAF = Placebo.

37k. I don't think it's in my head. I felt the difference. It hit me right away.

Cleaning MAFs is a good way to ruin them, especially if not done very carefully.

Throttle body cleaning is good if done carefully (and if your throttle body does not have the protective coating!) but I have some degree of concern as to whether or not the difference would really be noticeable on the butt dyno. Maybe if it was so nasty that airflow was severely restricted.

butt dynos are relatively inaccurate. i remember peeps feeling their car was stronger after the stillen headers just to dyno and find that it lost hp/tq

Maybe because air here in NYC is so much dirtier than most places, so maybe my MAF was just that dirty.

I dunno, really. :-\ *shrug*

Could you tell me how you got it cleaned, my Max is kinda acting sluggish also I get that damn pinging sound below 3000 RPM when accelarating. OR if you cud direct me to the MAF string or something.

Thanks,
Jake.

I did a MAF cleaning and TB cleaning at once and felt a difference, but I've cleaned my MAF once before since then and didn't notice a difference...

i felt a diffrence but mine was so screwd up that the car was stalling out when cold rough idle couldn't really accelerate so i decided just to spring for the new one so my car i guess is running "normal" now but it feels really strong now

its all in my head though
