Tried to have Cattman Y-Pipe installed. Problem!!!

I went in to my shop today to have my Cattman Y-pipe installed on my 2k2 but it seems that the O2 sensor wiring doesnt have enough slack to reach the O2 sensor port on the Cattman unit. WTH???

How did you guys get around this??

I was apprehensive about adding mods to my Maxima and now I'm not certain I want to go the mod route with this car. I may just keep it stock until my lease expires, at which point trading up would be a strong consideration.

Peace

F23A4, I had the same problem at the first shop I took it to. He said by extending the wire it would cause the CEL to come on. So I took it to another shop and they did it fine. All that needs to be done is to use some of the slack in the wire by removing the retaining clips. Do that and it will reach just fine.

Just take it off the clips like the previous people said. When I did this I had no where to put the second O2 sensor with my Warpseed/ Greddy Exhaust. My friend told me to put the sensor in A ziplock bage an duct tape it shut; we then put it somewhere safe on the car. No lights; no prob. But if you have a place to put it in your Y pipe just rip off the clips put it on and then Zip Tie the line back.

I remember when crispykid717 PM about his problem with the y and I told him to go somewhere else and try. The shop I went to I guess did it on their own because nothing was said and it went on just fine. Your 02' would be exactly like ours. Just be thankful that you only had this problem because I bet if you had gotten the WP or budget y you would have had many more troubles.

Modifying a leased car seems a bit odd to me. Granted all you have to do is take it back to stock when you go to turn it in, but spending $350 alone on a Y Pipe on a leased car seems like a waste IMO. Just my $.02. I guess if you plan on buying the car afterwards its no big deal, but you mentioned turning it in or trading it in, so still not understanding 100%.

The goal was to keep it post lease. But, if I cant have fun modding it (i.e.: SR20DEN and Blubyu), I'd keep it stock and return it for something like a TL 6MT OR G35S 6MT.
