how many mods will the 00 auto take?

I am really curious about the strength/reliability of the 2000 max auto tranny. I already have a frankencar intake and am planning on doing a few performance mods and do not want to haveta worry about blowing the tranny as a result of generating too much power. I am planning on either just a y-pipe or doing headers (havent made my decision), a high-flow cat, UDP, and a tranny cooler. So intake/exhaust/pulley for more power and just a tranny cooler to help out the tranny. I know of the VB mod but I am a college student and tools are limited- I am just not sure if the $500 price tag and me having to dig inside the tranny and the fact that I would haveta block out a certain day would be worth it. I know the 5-spd would be a better choice for mods but I do not have one nor the time and patience to swap one. I do not race but I would like much more "pop" in the seat- without blowing the tranny.

It should be fine. You should take a look at the TSBs though because tranny slippage is very common. I had to replace the solenoids and the TCM. Basically, $500 bucks including labor (warranty ran out). If you are not having those probs then you should be alright. Tranny cooler is a good idea but Amsoil or Mobil 1 would be a great idea.

With all the bolt on parts your auto will be fine. Only when you get up to forced induction you will start breaking things.
