How to remove shifter plate? HELP!

I bought a Nissan 6-disc trunk mounted changer and I have to run the wires to the back of the stock Bose head unit. The directions say that in order to remove the head unit, I have to remove the shifter plate (b/c I have to remove that to remove the fake wood grain...then I have to remove that to remove the radio). I have a 2001 GLE automatic if that makes a difference.

I already removed the a/c vents above the head unit, the glove box, and some kick plates near the door. I was able to loosen up the area around where the fake wood meets the kick plate on the other side but I'm not sure how to remove the shifter plate. I dont want to scratch or break it and I cant stick anything down there to see where the clips are.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THIS THING?

Thanks.

Stick a small flat head screwdriver at the base of it near the cup holder. The piece just pops out, just be very careful. Take the ashtray insert out. There is a screw that needs to be removed then it just unsnaps. After it's removed there are 2 screws holding the bottom of the radio down.

I'm an idiot!

I took off the wood trim and realized THAT was all that had to be removed. I thought I had to remove the silver trim around the P,R,N,D,2,1 part.

Anway, I got the changer all wired up and installed. I LOVE THIS THING. I'll get some pics up in case anyone gives a rats ____.

Thanks all.
