Stillen RSB fitment issue

I've installed the blue brackets on the arm as directed in Stillen's directions and from the photographs so generously contributed by other maxima owners. However upon fitting the bar at the number 3 and 5 slots, the bar still extends half an inch past the rear axle, which comes into contact with the rear lateral link. Already the bar has shown signs of friction against the link. I've taken the RSB to a shop and they've suggested drilling an extra set of holes, making the total slots to 6 per side. Before I go ahead with this task, are there any alternatives to fabrication and are there any possible negative effects from drilling extra holes?

Hey NoMotive,

I just installed mine last Saturday and didn't have that problem but then again I have a 2001 model. Do you have the right placement of the blue brackets cause there was this metal piece that was in the way of where the brackets go so I had to literally hammer the thing flush then I attached the brackets. Only a suggestion, but if you want to see how my RSB is mounted and positioned then we can meet up somewhere if your around Fullerton. I'm in Anaheim, which is not too far.

Yea the ABS brake lines prove difficult to slide the brackets any further back along the arms. Also the metal screw holes are apart of the arm itself and the grooves in the brackets are not large enough to slide over the screw holes. Not sure if it makes sense, but the point is the brackets can't be slide any further back without having to install both brackets in FRONT of the e-brake line. Currently the brackets are placed in front and behind the e-brake line...

Yea, it would be beneficial to meet up if I am unable to resolve this issue...

the brackets should be between two bolts on the trailing arms, but for the 2k1 and up there will be a little metal tab that prevents you from doing this. So you can either pound it down or take off the entire abs line bracket.

I had this problem and the rsb was sticking out way too much hitting the bell shaped thingy when I was driving it.

btw, are u talking about the e-brake line or the abs line? You should have a spacer for the e-brake line to push it out to clear the brackets. The abs line (the thinner one) is held in by brackets after 2k1, which i addressed as the issue above

if you have any problems just PM me and i'll install it for you this weekend if you have a jack and stands

yea .. in order to get the 3 and 5 holes you need to either put the brackets cricket ( i dont know if that affects performance) or hammer down that little piece of metal..

yup just as what i was going to say, my brackets are between the bolts on both of the trailing arms and i hammered away at that metal piece. but what i heard was that the more forward the RSB (of course still being under the beam) the better performance. i haven't tried adjusting it yet but it seems ok for me where i have it.

i installed a rsb for a member where he didn't want to pound down the metal tab nor take off the abs bracket.

as such, the rsb is about 2-3 inches further towards the front of the car, tucked underneath the rear beam. He seems to like it due to his aggressive driving style, but the back end is too stiff/unreliably predictable for me.
