since I can't search... crank sensor?
First of all, hello! I'm new here.
Second, I'm going round and round with Nissan over my '02 Maxima. I would truly appreciate input from anyone with insight on crank sensor problems or the BBB autoline program.
The facts: I purchased the car, new, in 6/02. The crank sensor failed 2/03 prior to the recall and they fixed it under warranty. Then in 1/04 I brought it in pursuant to the recall and they replaced it. Finally, last week I was driving along and guess what... crank sensor failed; I'm lucky I didn't get in an accident.
I have had it! I don't feel safe, and I can't trust Nissan when they say it's fixed. I don't yet qualify for my state's lemon law, so I'm trying to go through the process of getting the car replaced or repurchased through other methods. I went to the Service Mgr, then the General Mgr - they both refused my demands and sent me to Nissan Consumer Affairs. Consumer Affairs refused my claim on the basis that the Svc Mgr swears the problem is fixed (but wouldn't he have sworn the same thing after the first fix and the second fix). So now I'm filing my claim with the BBB Auto Line (I'm also writing to my state Atty General and NHTSA). Contacting an attorney is my last resort.
Comments? Suggestions? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Also, just curious, how did you almost get into an accident? Didn't the car just choke and stall?
Thanks for your reply, Kojiro. You make a good point.
As for the accident, the sensor failed as I was attempting to pass someone on the highway. Not a pretty sight. Fortunately, no one was hurt and no property was damaged. Simply an unnerving event.

Here's the recall, on page 13 it has the sensors and the part numbers (both a p/n for the kit and individual p/ns):
Recall
(Thanks studman for hosting the TSBs on your site)
Check them against the work order from the dealer. Good luck!
CRANK SENSOR or IGNITION COILS?
How can you tell you have a crank sensor problem? What are the signs?
I got an SES light error P1320. Everyone tells me that it is the ignition coils.
My mechanic checked it, he said it might be the crank sensor.
I don't have any major problems with my car except it sputters when driving in hill 1/10 times.
How much do crank sensor's cost? what new part # should i be aware of?
Also what are the new part #'s for the new ignition coils?
What do you guys think is the problem. Believe the p1320 ignition coil error or my mechanic of crank sensor failure?
