That should fit pretty well if you get the GXE dash kit.

only thing better about the eclipse is that the navi is built in and has a seperate dvd slot for it

otherwise the kenwood navi is far superior to that of the eclipse, well the kenwood unit is an allround better unit

Eclipse has much better pre-outs then this kenwood. Plus the display on the AVN owns Kenwood.

to Eclipse. Now only if I could afford it.

Kenwood is better than eclipse? When did this happen? PLEASE fill me in. Kenwoods all around products are not even on the same comparison chart with Eclipse.

this particular unit is hands down better then the eclipse, Kenwood has the best Navigation system around, Eclipse one is first generation navi and it is not that good

secondly the eclipse doesnt even have satelite radio capability.

eclipse makes some greataudio recievers, unfortunately Kenwood has been in the touch screen/ navigation game for much longer thats what makes this unit better then the eclipse unit.

trust me i've done plenty fo research on both of them, even played around with both of them, this Kenwood is better

Let me clarify on a few of the innacurate statements that you may have made..

Actually Pioneer is the leader in aftermarket Navi currently. Secondly This is not Eclipse first gen. They introduced Navi approx 5 years ago, just not DVD Rom based.

Eclipse is offering Satellite radio via Sirius. Check P/N: SIR-TNR.

Fujistu Ten has been making touchscreens for a whole lot longer thatn Kenwood has. Not to mention the quality components used as compared to Kenwoods generic choices.

Eclipse also offers a thrre year warranty on their products as well as a 1 year theft replacement in the unfortunate event that it is stolen. NO other company can lay claim to that.

Your personal research is all well and good as you should choose the one that You personally like. But please base your statements on facts. I have been dealing with, selling, installing, etc with both companies for well over a decade now.

--Don

BTW..comebacks/returns on Eclipse is about 1 to 20 opposed to Kenwood. Also the simple fact that Kenwood has enough bad/defective products to open up a national chain store (Kenwood factory outlet) of refurbs doesnt help their reputation.

no where in the specs of the eclipse do i see that it is ready for Satelite Radio, why wouldnt they include that???

so as a salesperson you would reccomend the navi in the eclipse over the one in the kenwood???

There are two reasons why it is not yet listed. A: because it is still Very new, and B: because alot of Eclipses marketing skills are very weak. Their specification listings leave alot to be desired in the providing info dept.

As a salesperson as well as a business owner I would recommend Eclipse over Kenwood anyday. More for overall product reliabilty,dependabilty,etc.. The Navi systems are actually very similiar as well as most others are. Streets,POIs,etc are all still there.

Sounds really scetchy, as satelite radio is where its all at right now, that eclipse would fail to mention that it was compatible with it or not.

Scetchy? Feel free to call them than. I do not make this stuff up. And satellite being "wheres its all at" is still a matter of opinion. I still sell more Eclipse HUs than any other 3 brands combined. People generally looking for SQ dont use radio of any sort.

i have the avn in my accord... its an awesome unit however there are a couple perks to it... the mp3 portion is gay and it doesnt have any dual zone video capabilities... other than that the sound quality is amazing and navigation is by far the FASTEST i've used... i will purposely miss exits and turns and this thing will reroute you in seconds... if anyone wants info as to the downsides send me a PM ill give you a detailed explanation...

i was lazy to type it all out... here im cutting/pasting/modifying a post i did at another forum...

i've had an avn 2454 for about 4 months now, and let me warn you... if you are looking to use this unit for MP3, then i suggest you dont buy it and buy the AVIC-N1... for starters, if the mp3 file is more than 128 kbps, then performance lags, and quite often the music will skip and lag if you are doing navigation or other functions at the same time... if you are in a mp3 folder and want to go "up one" folder to the main root, it takes 35-45 seconds in which navigation and mp3 playback jitters BIG TIME.... also ... all mp3 cd's must be burned in ISO9660 mode 1... what does this mean?? a maximum of 8 characters per filename, THATS RIGHT !! it wont even recognize a mp3 cd if the filenames are more than 8 characters... i pretty much have to redo my whole mp3 collection as its all 192 kbit plus my filenames have artist and song name, which is definately more than 8 characters...

this headunit will not do any dualzone outputs, if you want your backseat passengers to watch a dvd, then byebye navi and you have to be watching it on the avn 2454 for it to feed to the rear as well... also, with my previous pioneer and alpine headunits, whatever displayed on the headunit automaticaly showed on my headrests too, now with the eclipse?? the only thing they will display is dvd or the aux input... NO navi and NO cd audio/radio information... now tell me is this worth 2300-2500 when you can grab the pioneer avic-n1 for around 2 grand which has dual zone video and MEMORY NAVI... also, who makes a top notch headunit like this with only 1 video input?? it dont cut it...

I called eclipse about this and all they said was that im correct, it can only read mode 1 cd's with a max of 8 chars per filename... if you read on the website it says that the 2454 is "fully compatible" with the mp3 file format, SO untrue...

im not ragging on eclipse, i love their products, however it seems like they just took this unit from their overseas market, make minor changes and let it roll out without thinkin about the mp3 or dual zone video portions. just thought id give you my point of view on the headunit..

oh yeah in case your wondering, the only reason im keeping it is cuz audio cd performance is killer, navigation performance when not doing mp3 is killer, and plus in my honda dash is looks slick instead of a flip out screen... i get that oem look but AM performance...

just my opinion...

P.S. eclipses lower headunit, the doubledin one with hard drive built in, its a nice unit right? get this, it has NO rca preouts... NO PREOUTS !!!... i dunno whats up with eclipse's new line...

Anyone who's interested in the Eclipse 2454 should contact me. I think I can get those for about $1600 + shipping. If you're really interested, PM me and we'll talk about it.

edit: sorry, I think I had mistaken this unit with some other brand that my friends and I were comparing. Sorry again.

i wish i could confirm, however i cannot... i've heard alot about eclipse being siruis compatible as well as universal adaptors to make xm work as well, however i have seen nothing in the documentation for the headunit and nothing on the website... so the best judgement i can make is that no its not compatiable to date.
