Black Housing Q for '00 headlights?

I was wondering if theres a write up or how to for the mod made to the headlights of the max at http://maxima.cardomain.com/memberpage/189077/1
To me it looks like he spray painted on the outside of the headlights to get the look he wanted. They're not like the AE headlights though.

hah that guy traded in his max for a '04 Mazda 3. My wife has the exact same Mazda 3s. It's a nice, fun handling car, but NO way I'd trade the maxima for it...no replacement for displacement!

as to his lights....looks like the AE lookalike mod to me, where he opened the lights up. Soonerfan has done this and it looks just like that.

If you do deside to paint the housing to look like the AE's watch out when you tape off the chrome you do not want to paint. Some times when you pull the tape off, it can pull off the chrome with it.

basically I took each headlight and placed it in a cookie sheet with a damp towel underneath and baked them in the oven for 20 minutes at 250 dg F. Then you pry the headlights apart, starting from the bottom and pulling apart the epoxy from the headlight, and take out the chrome housing and tape off the sections you dont want painted, next paint the unmasked section with either gloss or flat paint (i used flat black) and reassemble the headlight as best as you can. Put each headlight back in the oven for 15-20 minutes at the same temp. and seal the epoxy back together as best as you can to avoid any breaks in the seal.

i created a way to do this using a spray called NiteShades. i did it on my taillights...but has also been adapted for use on your headlights by a few guys on here. either way...my how-to will show you exactly how to do it.
