my service engine soon light came on while i was driving last week. i checked the owners manual and it said it might come on due to a loose or missing gas cap, so i checked my gas cap and it was loose, the guy at the full service did not click it. it has been a week and the light didnt go off yet, the owners manual says a few driving trips. can anyone post me with some info on how long it will take to go off if u know, or if u experienced the same problem.

 

if it was the cap, the light will go off itself after the ecu cycles it out. if you want to speed the process up then take a 10mm open ended wrench and unplug the negative terminal over night. if the light is still on after, it was not the gas cap and you need to have the code pulled. go to an autzone nearby if you have one for free diagnostic or local shop or dealer will pull it for a price.
