Car dead, need help :(

hi

well my car is at 34,500 and i was working on the guages last night trying to fit the new LED bulbs in there, well i had my foglights on but not the main lights and i was sitting next to the car (wasnt even touching it) then my foglights go dim and the car makes a weird whirring noise. i was curious and tried to start the car....and it wouldnt. it clicks repeatedly and real fast and will not start. The battery is not dead because my lights and radio work. but if i put my lights switch on auto the car starts making weird noises and the power is distributed in jolts and not smoothly. if i try to close/open the window it jerks, and will not close smoothly, my fuel guage starts jumping, my airbag light blinks and my ABS comes on and off and makes a loud clicking noise when it goes on. also when i turn my lights on now, the left one starts blinking and then goes off but the right one stays on....but this has been happening lately and i think thats cause the battery is beginning to go. i did try to jumpstart it and it didnt do anything at all.

was wondering if any one knows what it might be. .. i was thinking either the alternator or the starter..but that doesnt explain the guages....

thanks

did you have any of the wiring harnesses unplugged from the guages when you were doing all this?

The fact that your lights and radio work does not mean your battery isn't dead. Try a jump start first. The rapid clicking is a dead giveaway.

Oops. I see you already tried a jumpstart. Possibly a blown fuse or short somewhere? Hope you didn't fry your ECU. Check voltage at battery with key on. Should be about 11.6-12.4? Have someone turn the key while you watch, it should not drop below 9 volts with key in start position. Check the main (130 amp?) fuse in line with the positive terminal on the battery.

BTW, it's possible your battery is dead beyond jump-starting.
