Energy Suspension 6-Speed shifter bushing kit.....
as promised, my bushings for the shifter arrived today....and as promised, our rep has decided to name me yet again. bushings feel strong (not flimsy) and firm. they will most likely be installed in the next few days, along with the motor mounts (didn't have time since NYC decided to make sure that every highway was completely jammed up the day i decided to take the car out)....a lot of bushings. all in the console minus 1 which is the bushing that goes on the other end of the cable inside the engine bay under the intake. the ball is still rolling. the pieces are gettin put together, and soon we'll have a complete 5.5gen bushing kit. soon followed by 5gen (so relax 2k/2k1 guys)

as chinkzilla put it when i talked to him, no more searching for gears, when you change gears, it only goes in one direction, and it goes there. no more accidently going into 5th instead of 3rd or 3rd instead of 5th. it follows a more gated shift pattern. everything is more defined. as an example. if you take your stick (this is gonna sound so xxx) and just smack it, it shakes back and forth a bit. it feels flimsy. with the new bushings, the shifter simply does not move. you push it, it snaps back into place. like i said, more defined path. it snaps into gear.
energy is getting my thumbs up on these. you 6speed guys are gonna be very happy with these things.
installation took me a couple hours, only because i didn't know what went where. after finally realizing it, i feel i can knock it out in about 20-30 minutes. 8 bushings pair up to form 4 bushings that go in each corner of the mount for the stickshift. 2 more bushings (the only 2 large ones) go on each end of the main cable. one attached to the stick, the other side is in the engine bay. that's it.
sorry to bother you guys so much, cause i know most of you are like "thanx for hyping it up, now start selling them!!!!" but at least you know that these bushings are indeed a very good addition to the manual tranny. motor mounts go in tomorow. expect that thread to get updated.

jeepik: actually, yesterday between this and waking up at 4:30AM to go to the airport and then going straight to work, i was exhausted, so i simply put the car away and called it a nite. i'm going to take some quick pictures of where all the bushings go, so that you all can know (and i'm sure energy will have a better set of instructions by the time they officially release them)

as you can see, if you compare with the pictures in the first post, the 2 big bushings are the ones that go in the end of each cable. the other 8 bushings get connected together, and end up looking like the 4 bushings picture above. those 4 bushings on each corner of the yellow plasic base, which holds the whole stickshift mechanism. hope i've made sense...i'm going to try and take more pictures, i'm just too lazy to do so right now.

BUSHING LOCATION:

the highlighted object to the right is a nut. remove that nut and you find one of the 4 smaller bushings. there are 3 more, in each corner of the base.
the highlighted object to the left is one of the main bushings on the cable. the other end leads to......

ok, just went for a ride. actually, long ride. i've been around NYC for the past 3 hours doing errands. had my boy get in and go through the gears as well.
we both agree that it's pretty hot. best description i can give is that it's nto flimsy at all. when you wanna go into any gear, there isn't any confusion. it goes into that gear. it doesn't shake as much. even if you press the throttle, you used to feel the stick move in reaction to it. now it doesn't move at all. a bit more notchiness, but after talkin with chinkzilla about it, he says it's all a matter of breaking it in. give it a week and it should smooth itself out.
so...

not that i'll let you drive it, but at the june 5th meet, feel free to go through the gears. you'll feel the difference from that alone.

2) what update do you want. they've been on the car for more about a month now. i love it. it's a firmer feel to the shifter. doesn't feel as flimsy as before. but then again, that's everyone elses personal preferences.
the sales department at energy i believe has all the paperwork and it takes roughly a month for things to fall through. it's been about 2 weeks now, so i say a few more weeks before we see a final product come our way.
