I'm assuming the 02 is the same as the 03.
I've ran my 03 manual at 147 on the autobahn with no limiting.

I didn't know there was a limiter, I thought we were rev limited.

I have an 01 and the fastest I've taken it is 120. It feels like it doesn't want to go any faster than that. Is that normal? I thought I could hit 140 easily but now that I tried it doesn't seem possible. What's the fastest you'll have done in an '01 Auto SE?
i have a 00 manual and i hit about 135 easy, and it felt like i could go faster.... but decided against going any faster because the speed limit was 50 and i didnt feel like going to jail.....
i was on my way to see an old friend who lived about 4 hours away from me an it was about 2am so i thought ahhh what the hell........

I buried the needle at 140 several times on my Accord (usually wide open straight as an arrow traffic lanes during a mostly freeway-type commute). I know, let the flames come from some of you - stupid, silly, dangerous ... Anyways, I have only gotten my Max up there once or twice, and even then only at a relatively restrained 120ish, and felt like there was plenty of room to go (not near the redline), and the car felt very tight and controlled, so I'm wondering where it could go. I think I will take it to a track or somewhere more appropriate if I ever care to find out how high it will go. Other than that, I have been keeping it at a max of about 10-15 over the limit, which is quite an accomplishment for my lead foot.

Wait until you go over a decent sized bump at 100+ in that car...

I ran 137-138mph on the NJ Turnpike while running against an Acura TL-S (which remained about a car legnth behind me before we both hit the brakes).
But I wanna know from Onemax how it feels to maintain those speeds with the 5G Maxima, as opposed to our "sprints".

Yeah sorry to jack your thread Nismax2002 but to answer your guys questions.
Driving the max on the autobahn is alot of fun, you can drive at high speeds here because most of the autobahn's are made for speed. They have long very wide straight-aways, and long sweeping turns. Most Germans know how to drive as well. They usually never hang out in the left lane either.
Yes I was running in the fast lane, but I still had to move over cause an Audi A8 or S8 (didn't have any badges) flew right past me. There's always someone faster than you here. And yes I could have gone faster. I think there was a slight head wind when I was driving 147, I still had about 1200 rpms till red line in 6th.
F23A4: The max isn't the best for high speeds, but it does it's job. The max can definitely get up and go when I enter the autobahn. There is alot of road noise and the handling could be alot better. I also don't like to run that fast constantly without a tranny or oil cooler. But all in all the max always feels pretty solid and I love driving it here. And plus very few U.S. maxima's over here so you always get that double look when you cruise by.

With my stock 6 spd I've done almost 130 with juice to spare on I66 out by Front Royal and also in the vicinity of I68/I70 in MD somewhere...

And it sounds like your typical NYC driver could never fare well on the Autobahn. (read: no hanging out in left lane)
Thanks for your response.

i got a 03 max auto with injen cai on the I95 i saw a straight away it was open couldnt see any car for a couple of miles i was already going about 110 with ease so i decided to punch it and after a little bit i was going 147 then the rpm dropped and took me down to 140 and picked up again to 147 then dropped to 140 . the car feels solikd i got eibach springs rsb fsb rear anti sway bar semi slicks and all so it felt good on the usuall i always go 100
I've been up to around 120MPH in 6th gear@ 4000 RPM, the car felt like it could go faster, but it was a windy day and I didn't want to risk it.
P.S. I don't trust stock suspension going that fast
I would try it again after I get my JIC A1, and better and wider tires and wheels.

Some of the 2k2 6 speed Maximas do have soft speed limiters at 149(ish) and in most cases you can't even tell that you've hit it. They also near the top speed in 5th. Sixth is a fuel economy gear that would go past 200mph if the car actually had the power to do so.
I know I have hit my speed limiter in 5th and 6th. Now I can actually feel the power cut and I proved it on the dyno.
I know many SE automatics have soft limters at 130mph.
So if you car tops out at 147 then you probably have a speed limiter. Send your ECU to Technosquare and get it removed if you wish to go faster on the Autobahn.

2002 SE autotragic, stock she ran 130 on 528 Beeline, pretty flat here in Florida,
now with the unorthodox UDP Ultra S, cattman Y-pipe, 2.5 inch B pipe w/resonator, test pipe, and Frankencar intake w/ Apexi filter, she still only went 130 (but it did get to that speed quicker and considerably louder) so i would definitely agree about the soft SPEED limiter on the 2002 SE auto's. Does anyone know if Technosquare has the upgrade for 2002+ auto's?

I wonder if the HKS SLD is compatable with the VQ35DE:

The HKS SLD is an electronic device that prevents the triggering of the factory speed limiter. SLD units are vehilce specific due to the unique electronic signals of each type of vehicle.

I have driven what said on my speedo 148.8 mph (240 kmh). No probs. No suggesting that the speedo is 100% accurate but it seems close. I drive that in spurts for short periods on a weekly basis as I commute on the straightest smoothest road in the world. about 200 miles per day. I have a VQ30DE with a 5 speed and it has 227hp. I think the engine specs might be a bit different to the US specs.
