i'll save you the highway racing sermon. if you're 6 spd, you should walk an is300 all day. if you're an auto....well, you're an auto.

No IS should touch either 5th gen Max. Auto or manual, it doesn't matter. The Max is considerably quicker than the IS.

I think the IS stock is 200HP/180TQ -- don't quote me on that. I'd check, but Google won't load.

In a straight line the IS doesn't stand a chance vs. Max 3.5 auto or 6sp, the curves might be a different story, though.

Atleast no NA IS300 will touch the 5.5Gen. Watch out if you come up to a Boosted IS300, 2JZ engine can handle good amount of Boost. And don't race one when taking a corner. Otherwise you can race them all day.

What are you talking about. Any Maxima can take it. 6 speed or auto. The 6 speed and auto aren't that much different.

Doesn't matter if you have an auto or 6 speed. Maximas are quicker.

A stock 3.0 auto would probably lose to a stock IS 5-spd manual.

Yep, I lose to my friends 03' 5sp IS300 all the time. Through first we are even, as soon as he shifts into second I'm out of it. He has an intake and exhaust and I have the Cattman y-pipe.

Put it this way, a buddy has a 2001 IS300 with a SWT intake/ECU. I raced him at the drags and beat him by a 10th with my old 2001 auto GLE! Now my '03 auto SE is 1.1 seconds faster in the 1/4 than my old '01, you should have walked him pretty bad even with an auto if he way near stock.

215hp @ 5800 RPM
218tq @ 3800 RPM

Not too shabby, really. Tons of mods available (that goes without saying)...

i didn't see that he had a 2003. 2000-2001 maximas are hugely different from 5 spd to auto.

Millen just made a IS430 for a SEMA display..fully drivable and 100% finished car. Stock IS300 is slow but the motor can be modded (it IS a Supra motor) and will handle FI on the stock bottom end.

I've driven IS300 -- it's horrendously cramped -- feels more like a Corolla. The main complaint I have with em other than that is the horrendous, ugly gauges which try to look all Rolex. They're fast enough but no way a stock IS300 is gonna beat a 2k2+ maxima, off the line or from a roll.

That was a sweet car except for the red/blk paint job... saw it on Rides.
