65 or 70 on interstates
55 on state highways
25 in residential zones
15 in school zones (when children are present)

135-140. Once you hit beyond that point a chip will stop the rpm from going any higher and lower it, hence lowering your speed. At that point..i wouldn't push the car any longer..unless its a rental

why in hell would you need to go over 140 mph unless you were running from cops?

read this post on the DC-area forum...

SuperChris (a 4th genner) was sentenced recently to jail time, fines, and suspended license (pending appeal). And he was only doing like 95 I think. So don't be a dumbass and crank it up to the maxes max....it could cost you your freedom, your money, your license, or your life...

159MPH on a long stretch of a road in 5th gear if your car is a AE 5spd. Anything with 16" wheels or 15" steelies- in my case, will top out at 135 on the speedo. I run a 17" wheels 5spd program on my GXE which has no speed limiter. At 135 the fun is just begun. 6spds top speed is I belive 200MPH even- but you would need lots of power to get up that high. My G20 we clocked using my friends squad car doing 171MPH and still had some left in it

Well nismo....I live in fairfax also, and can tell you the cops are very strict here and don't f- around. That's why we have a very low crime rate.....so you don't have to worry QUITE as much as we do

blackbird...I think he meant stock. If your g20 is pushing 240+whp, no kidding it can do 170+mph.

Isn't your max heavily modded also?

my car got up to 143 mph on a dyno, more than you'll ever need. There, that should answer your question.

I build my cars for road racing and tops speed runs. I think that one day I will end up living in some country with no speed limit again- I'm of european descent (not born here), and we have no speed limits. My Max will hit the rev limiter in 5th on the dyno or on the highway. My G20s top speed is around 185MPH- redline limited. I should hit 400WHP on the G20 by the end of the summer.

I've lived in Europe twice....they HAVE speed limits, just that NOBODY obeys them and they are almost never enforced. I loved taking my Lancia Integrale up to its top end of 145 on the Autostrade in italy.....

hehe i'm of European decent too, just 7 generations back. Bet you can't guess which country...

Polak here born and raised for like 12 years, but the last few times I was over in europe I enjoyed driving a Opel Calibra Turbo on the autobahn alot, I must say driving in europe makes our interstates borring at anything slower than 100MPH. I used to live in Phoenix AZ a while ago, and used to cruise to LA at over 140MPH constantly in my SE-R. 300 mile road trip was only like less than 3 hours long. Most of the time the speedo was pegged and engine just purring along around 6800-7000RPM in 5th gear for like a hour long There wasn't anything on the road for miles ahead why be stuck doing 70MPH.

That's a wild story. I still wont stop 'speeding' nor using a radar detector when in Va. I'll just continue to speed at a reasonable rate (i.e.: 75mph in a 65mph zone). Though I've done it many times, there really is no reason to exceed 85mph. Especially in NJ where traffic flow is the great equalizer.

All that said (and posted), two1000 just asked a simple question. (A question that's pretty much answered on every car tested by Car & Driver and Road & Track.) He didnt ask for our opinions on speeding, street racing, etc,...

what are you saying? Any car can go just about any speed if you put enough power behind it.

STOCK, 2k2 6-speed car touch in the 150s (gps verified) and then you hit a pebble
and die.

Slow down... have fun going 0-60... at 150 you lose a lot of reaction time and it's
just that much easier to crash for a completely dumb reason.

I thought the limiter on GXE and GLE was 130. Manuals don't have one i think and no clue about the SE.

There are several states where you are fried if caught speeding. VA is one of the worst.. Never knew about SuperChris till this thread. Scary stuff.

maybe he should have just looked in a car & driver if he wanted an answer without commentary. Ask a ridiculous question (and this was a ridiculous question), and you're likely to get a ridiculous answer (as we have seen here)

for example:

on the org you post something like "how many gallons is the gas tank in a 2000 maxima" and instead of just getting one answer with a solid number,
you get responses like
"I get 23.4 mpg"
"Is the gas tank bigger if you have a y-pipe?"
"I dunno, my accord had a 15-gallon tank though"
"damn gas is expensive these days"
"how do you calculate mileage?"
and finally someone (Cutlr7) says
"gas tanks are

peace!

Uhh, yeah look he joined Maxima.org in May 2004 and currently has 3 posts. This means he's a ! So, there has to be a little slack. And it doesnt help that the Search function exists in name only.

As for digression, that can happen in any post. (and has already happened on this one, as evidenced by this exchange.)

Yup, do it at the track. Enjoy, it must be a great privilege to be 17 and have a car like that. Us older farts had something like a beat up Chevy Vega or Dodge Dart to start with.

The ANTI-CHIP for the chip limiter is around 200.(underground) It will make your car go as much as you want, before you hit a pebble and die in a "fast n furious" death.

That's ****ty.....why is it underground? Lorinser sells chips for various AMG Mercedes that disables the 155mph speed limiter chip, but they don't have to do it underground.

And anybody else notice that the cruise control will not go over 92? It won't activate over that, and you can't accelerate it past that. Not that I need it at higher speeds very often, it's just that I hadn't ever heard about that before.
