Maxima sitting in a puddle of Brake fluid..

I got home from my friday night out,....and my Max is sitting in a puddle of brake fluid in the front drivers side. The brake resevoir is clean, no leaks there........any ideas ? I think it must be a line , or a seal. I turned it on, and the pedal goes to the floor.......Im so tired of this car......

I bet its one of the fittings near the caliper. Take a look at the wheel and the back of the tire for fluid residue.

this would be the perfect time to get stainless steel lines . did you check the lines that come to the caliper?

I really hate this car. When I had my WS6 I never even knew who any of the service writers were........I tell ya, sometimes I really want to take a sledge hammer to this car. Its at the dealer right now. I dropped it off. Im gonna wait for the " its 500 bucks for a seal " phone call.......

Just got back from the dealer. I ruptured a the brake line in the front driver's side. Im having them install Stainless Steel lines all around. I dont want this crap happening again. Im lucky it happened at my house. I would hate to lose a brake line on the Highway while Im doing 80 and trying to slow down.........

I hate to hear that Kloogy, but you can't drive your car without brakes. It may not be very expensive.

Wouldn't this be covered by warranty? This totally sucks anyway, but yeah you got lucky it didn't happen elsewhere.

I don't know what's with the 2k2+ Maximas, stuff breaks down all the time on almost brand new cars

What warranty?.........I have 72k miles !.......This whole charade is going to cost me 500 bucks or so, since the dealer has inserted their Pecker in my rear, on labor.....

i am a little confused as to why you won't install them yourself? it was a given that there was a rupture in the rubbery line..

I do the work at my parent's garage. I live in an apt, and I cannot work on my car , its not allowed. I cant drive the car anywhere without brake pressure. If I could, I would pick the parts up, and drive to my parents and do it there. Unfortunately I am at the mercy of the dealer this time.

Oh boy, my bad... but you don't seem to have gotten out of your Max for the past 2 years or so I haven't put 72k altogether on all the cars I've had in my life.

I haven't had any problems with mine, I just hope that doesn't happen to me one day. Screw the $500, but wrecking my car and my life...

any chance someone just doesn't like you and "ruptured it" for you? Just a thought.

I thought of that. I have no beef with any of my neighbors, since Im hardly ever home to even know them..........Due to the wheels that I have, its easy to access the brake lines, if thats what someone wanted to do. I doubt it though.

I drive 100 miles per day roundtrip to work. So that adds up fairly quickly in 2 years.

When you have a faulty brake line. That's about it. A guy I work with had that happen to him with S/S lines and he rear-ended the person in front of him. It was because they were rubbing and got worn. I had it blow on me in the garage and it was a S/S line. I did not see any rubbing so it was faulty somehow. It can be quite scary to have one go out on you while on the highway.

On S/S lines they really only break if they rub on something and get worn. It is imperature they are installed properly and of the right "fit." Too long and they can rub on something. Too short, well it's too short and won't work.

Kloogy...I suggest you take a look at the lines after the dealer installs them to make sure they are installed correctly. Each line needs to go through the clip that hooks onto the strut braket. If not, it can wear and eventually rupture.

Dang... I don't think I've seen any rub marks on my SS lines, though I noticed the plastic collars around the ends are cracked, but those look like cheap decorative strain-reliefs anyway. I guess I should be good, although the BlehmCo BBK positions the caliper such that it bends a little more I think... still not bad though.

I don't think it's your car (although with all those mods you don't have many things stock). It has happened to me twice overnight before, though not on the maxima. It's annoying as crap realizing your brake system died while the car was parked.

Once my master cyllinder blew (wtf!) and the other time the rear caliper was leaking.... another wtf.. it happens.

Yeah, but you have to hold the brake pedal all the way down, and it would take you 3 blocks to slow down from 70 mph.....

Use the E-Brake to slow down. Just don't rip it up all the way...a couple of clicks till you start slowing down...

Glad you found it while it was sitting still. Would hate to see pics of that new CF hood all torn up in the underside of a semi's rear bumper. Hate to say it, but $500 is much less than it could have been, but you already know that.
