Instrument Panel Haze

HELP! The clear plastic cover over the instrument cluster is hazing. I've tried using all sorts of cleaners, but it just keeps on coming back. Any solutions? I've heard that Plexus cleaners helps, but I haven't heard of anyone using it on the instrument panel.

Thanks in advance.

Plexus will do wonders and you can get a new plastic cover for 20-30$ from a dealer if you so desire..

I think using "all sorts of cleaners" is probably making it worse. You only have to use the wrong stuff once to permanently damage the lens.

Had similar damage from unproper cleaning by an earlier owner when I bought my Miata from Carmax. They picked up the cost of replacement under their 30 day warrantee. Had it done by a dealer. Part was only about $20. At least on my Miata it's a simple job I would have done myself but someone else was paying for the labor.

Haven't tried to replace the instrument panel lens on my Maxima yet but I bet it's not too expensive or difficult to do. I'm sure someone on the forum can provide advice on the procedure. The part may not be much more expensive than any exotic cleaners or polishes and will solve the problem permanently (unless you use a damaging cleaner again).

For cleaning of the dash and windshield I always spray the cleaner on my rag first. No matter how careful you are when trying to spray directly you'll always get at least a little on the instrument lens, possibly damaging it.

Plexus is great stuff. I buy it all the time from motorcycle dealers when I get supplies for oil changes. It's great on sportbikes as they have a lot of plastic, and I'm sure it would be great on all the plastic parts of cars. Check them out

Just be careful which cleaner you use from now on. All it takes is one spray of the wrong stuff and your panel is toast.

As mentioned already...you should give Plexus a try if you haven't already.
