Experts; sensor help?!
Experts; sensor help?!
this will probably be a bit long, but I would appreciate anyone responding with suggestions to take the time to read the whole post before doing so...
I posted about a month back of my 2000 max se 5spd having problems with not starting and stalling. The resolution of this problem was that the dealer found that my cam positioning sensor had gone out. I shelled out the $315 to fix it (plus the $150 diag fee and towing) and thought all was well. Exactly a week later, the car stalled again, this time when I had to come to a sudden stop after exiting the freeway. However, unlike before, the car promptly started right back up though.
A week after that, while taking a U-turn at a rather slow speed (under 20mph) the car stalled again. I've analyzed my driving style, and I know I took the u-turn in 2nd gear. Once again though, the car did start up right away.
A few days afterwards, same thing happened while taking a U-turn. Once again, I took the turn in 2nd gear and a rather slow speed.
I took the car back into the dealership, and was notified that no codes came up, but that my battery was very low and needed to be replaced. The dealership said that that might cause my sensors to malfunction. I didn't believe them...
Last weekend, while at a friends lake house, I had to turn around in a cul-de-sac, and true to form, my max stalled again, and this time I was anticipating it. I was in 2nd gear, but the clutch was fully depressed and disengaged. It took a little longer to start her up, as it seemed the engine was flooded again. VOILA though, the SES light finally came on. This is a full month after getting the Cam sensor replaced.
I took the car to autozone this time to get the ECU flashed. The code said that once again, the cam positioning sensor was out. I took the car back to the dealership, yelled at the ******* service manager, and left. Get a call back from them saying that the only codes coming up are an extrememly low battery, and that the cam positioning sensor is functinoing properly.
Thoroughly disgusted with this explanation, I pick up my car, go to NTB, buy a battery and get my alternator and all voltages checked. In fairness, my original batter was 4 years old and had over 50k miles on it; I was only putting out like 140 CCA's, when the manufactuerer recommends 585cca or something like that.
After getting the new battery, the car starts up noticeably better, and just has the "fixed" feeling of sorts (probably more hope than anything).
Then, when taking a u-turn again, the CAR STALLS! WTF??!!!
The SES light that was on has since gone off when I installed a new battery. There is something obviously wrong. Dave B here in Austin thinks it's a MAF sensor; but i'm having doubts.
Anyone have experience with these things? Please help...

Since you're in TX, know that lemon law in TX only applies first 12k miles/12 months, and the car must have major mechanical problems requiring repair at least twice within that period of time/mileage, and said mechanical problems must greatly impact the safety, value and roadworthiness of the vehicle.
Anyway:
1. Go to another dealer
2. See if you can get your cam sensor warrantied under Nissan parts warranty. If not, you'll need to buy new ones. If you wrote down the P-code (probably P034x?) give it to the new dealer, tell em you had a dead battery and the code was erased. Sounds like either 1) you got a defective part or 2) the dealer charged you for the work and never performed it.
