Axxis Ultimate or Raybestos Quiet Stop Brake Pads?

Axxis Ultimate brake pads or Raybestos Quiet Stop?

Axxis Ultimates are cerramic and say have some kevlar. $80 for front & rears

Raybestos QS are cerramic. $100 for front & rears

Any of you guys have any experience with these pads?

I am looking for long lasting pads which don't warp the rotors.

These pads are for normal street & highway driving. Not for the track.

NEED HELP DECIDING PLZ!

Thanks

I have been happy with the Raybestos, don't know about the Axxis.

Raybestos are either too squeaky or so dusty you'll regret having them on. Morse ceramic (front and rears) are the ones you want. Virtually no dust, good stopping power, and no squeaking...

I have to disagree about the raybestos, I've had them for over 10K and I really don't think they cause anymore dust then stock or stillen metal matrix pads. Also I find them to be very quiet. I just have them in the front.

Oh yeah I personally have had my full share of warped rotors and imo (amature) the maxima's rotors are too small for the vehicle and no matter what pads you get you still after time will have warping problems. I have done brakes on this car about 5 times (cutting and replacing) in 3 yrs/87k. I wouldn't be overly concerned with the pads.

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Axxis pads... Axxis Ultimates are built more for performance than Raybestos, so they should be much nicer pads as far as braking power is concerned.

I'm using Axxis Metal Masters on 2k4 rotors with the BlehmCo kit and I'm pleased (except for the squealing, still have to try reapplying anti-squeal grease to see if it'll go away)... but Axxis Ultimates should work well too.

For what you get, the Raybestos pads sound like a ripoff.

I bought the Raybestos because so many people here liked them. I absolutely hate them. They are loud. When they heat up they fade and they just don't stop very well. I have new OEM'e in the rear and they work great. I will probably get the ultimates next.

On stock rotors I had problems with my Raybestos QuietStop pads on the front fading... after any type of significant braking you'd notice it. They weren't too loud, so I didn't have much trouble with them... I replaced them with Axxis Metal Masters + 2k4 rotors when they were about 50% worn.

The QS Raybestos line contains ceramics. That should make for a quiet/good stopping/long living and easy on rotor pad. But it's not marketed as their high performance pad. Thus the QS (Quiet Stop) name.

For you 5-gen guys with the smaller sized rotors (vs the 2k4 versions), you guys should be looking for the most rotor friendly pad out there to counter act the rotor warpage issues. Pads with high technology materials like Kevlar, ceramics, carbon are all good materials. Don't know if I'd use semi-metallics anymore. This material seems to be fading away due to it's harshness on rotors and noise issues.

I dunno, my Raybestos QuietStop pads warped every ~3 months like a real 5th gen's brake system (first time was on fresh Raybestos rotors, second time was after those fronts were cut once already...) either way I wouldn't recommend them.

I've used the Raybestos NS series on my 3-gen before with good results. But we don't have nearly the rotor problems you guys have. I truely believe Nissan screwed up using the same sized rotors on the maxima when it was getting increasingly larger/heavier.

Once you cut the rotors, it will only get worse. And it will get worse quicker. If you take mass out of the rotor, it has an even harder time dissapating heat from itself in a controlled manner.

yep, this I understand... I wonder how the 2k4 rotors respond to that. I understand they're something like 4mm thicker than OEM 5th gen rotors? If they never warp, I'd imagine I'd want to get them cut once when I swap pads (once these Metal Masters wear out), and I wonder how long they'd last after that...
