My 2K was built Dec 16 1999 and I have already found 3 rust spots and some suspects.

One on the leading edge of the roof, 1 inch above the windsheild trim, definately not from a chip, I can see it bubling up.

One on the upper driver door frame on the rear edge, above the B-pillar, eye level.

One is the trunk TSB, trunk lid rubbing against the bumper.

One from under both sides of the front chrome window trim, just above the rear-view mirrors, from the unsealed seam on the chrome window trim I get recurring rust coloured debris. (y'all know the diff between dirt and rust)

Oh, why can I see the rust.... Icelandic Perl. You maroon, green and black guys should have a look.

Have I just hit a rust bucket?

I think it could be sand/salt that eat into the paint, making it look like rusting? Or is it really a rust?

Even if it's salt it doesn't matter since the colour comes back after washing the car.

How sad. I hope you plan on documenting your grievance on www.nissanpaint.com or www.maximapaint.com when it gets up and running (hopefully within the week...the guy working on it ran into a little bit of a problem..his ISP went belly up today!)

NO car, not even a $10k Hyundai, should be having the type of paint problems we're having. I love my car, but this has cast such a shadow over the ownership experience. Not so much for the present, but what is my car going to LOOK like in 2 years, 3 years, or longer, WHILE I'M STILL MAKING MY PAYMENT!!!!

...don't get me started. That bimmer is looking better and better!!!

srm

I'll take it to the dealer Monday morning just to say "hey, look at this and document it". At least get it on record that they saw it. The one on the door is impossible to have been created by a rock and the one on the roof is bubling up, there is no chip mark.

The last thing I want is for them to spot paint it now. (it's still (*&^$$%&&*&^$%*&^$%^*&*&@*#$&^#@#$&#*$& SNOWING!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGHGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!)

Anyone have the Nissan TSB number, or better yet the actual TSB on the trunk/bumper problem. You can just mail it to me if you want.

Thanks guys

Thanks for the link to the TSBs, much appreciated. I actually found it 2 minutes after posting my last request.
